Journal ArticleDOI
A linear radiofrequency ion trap for accumulation, bunching, and emittance improvement of radioactive ion beams
Frank Herfurth,Jens Dilling,Alban Kellerbauer,Georg Bollen,S. Henry,Hans-Jürgen Kluge,Emily Lamour,David Lunney,R. B. Moore,C. Scheidenberger,Stefan Schwarz,G. Sikler,J. Szerypo +12 more
TL;DR: An ion beam cooler and buncher was developed for the manipulation of radioactive ion beams at ISOLDE/CERN as discussed by the authors, where the efficiency was found to exceed 10% in agreement with simulations.
Journal ArticleDOI
ISOLTRAP: An on-line Penning trap for mass spectrometry on short-lived nuclides
Manas Mukherjee,Dietrich Beck,Klaus Blaum,Georg Bollen,Jens Dilling,Sebastian George,F. Herfurth,Alexander Herlert,Alban Kellerbauer,H.-J. Kluge,Stefan Schwarz,Lutz Schweikhard,C. Yazidjian +12 more
TL;DR: ISOLTRAP as discussed by the authors is a Penning trap mass spectrometer for high-precision mass measurements on short-lived nuclides installed at the on-line isotope separator ISOLDE at CERN.
Journal ArticleDOI
A cylindrical Penning trap for capture, mass selective cooling, and bunching of radioactive ion beams
H. Raimbault-Hartmann,D. Beck,Georg Bollen,M. König,H.-J. Kluge,E. Schark,J. Stein,Stefan Schwarz,J. Szerypo +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a penning trap ion accumulator, cooler, and buncher for low-energy ion beams has been developed for the ISOLTRAP mass spectrometer at ISOLDE/CERN.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Ramsey method in high-precision mass spectrometry with Penning traps: Experimental results
Sebastian George,Klaus Blaum,F. Herfurth,Alexander Herlert,Martin Kretzschmar,Szilard Nagy,Stefan Schwarz,Lutz Schweikhard,C. Yazidjian +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new excitation scheme, Ramsey's method of time-separated oscillatory fields, has been successfully tested with the ISOLTRAP mass spectrometer at ISOLDE/CERN for mass measurements on stable as well as short-lived nuclides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ramsey method of separated oscillatory fields for high-precision penning trap mass spectrometry.
Sebastian George,S. Baruah,B. Blank,Klaus Blaum,M. Breitenfeldt,U. Hager,Frank Herfurth,Alexander Herlert,Alban Kellerbauer,Hans-Jürgen Kluge,Matthieu Kretzschmar,David Lunney,R. Savreux,Stefan Schwarz,Lutz Schweikhard,C. Yazidjian +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the Ramsey method applied to Penning trap mass measurements yields a statistical uncertainty similar to that obtained by the conventional technique but 10 times faster, which is a new powerful tool for high-precision mass measurements.
