Abstract: Thank you for downloading elements of style. As you may know, people have search hundreds times for their chosen novels like this elements of style, but end up in malicious downloads. Rather than reading a good book with a cup of coffee in the afternoon, instead they are facing with some infectious bugs inside their desktop computer. elements of style is available in our digital library an online access to it is set as public so you can download it instantly. Our digital library spans in multiple locations, allowing you to get the most less latency time to download any of our books like this one. Merely said, the elements of style is universally compatible with any devices to read.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors apply different techniques and uncover the quantile conditional dependence between the global financial stress index and Bitcoin returns from July 18, 2010, to December 29, 2017.
Abstract: We apply different techniques and uncover the quantile conditional dependence between the global financial stress index and Bitcoin returns from July 18, 2010, to December 29, 2017. The results from the copula-based dependence show evidence of right-tail dependence between the global financial stress index and Bitcoin returns. We focus on the conditional quantile dependence and indicate that the global financial stress index strongly Granger-causes Bitcoin returns at the left and right tail of the distribution of the Bitcoin returns, conditional on the global financial stress index. Finally, we use a bivariate cross-quantilogram approach and show only limited directional predictability from the global financial stress index to Bitcoin returns in the medium term, for which Bitcoin can act as a safe-haven against global financial stress.

TL;DR: The authors examine tone dispersion, or the degree to which tone words are spread evenly within a narrative, to evaluate whether narrative structure provides insight into managers' voluntary disclosures and users' responses to those disclosures.
Abstract: We examine tone dispersion, or the degree to which tone words are spread evenly within a narrative, to evaluate whether narrative structure provides insight into managers’ voluntary disclosures and users’ responses to those disclosures. We find that positive and negative tone dispersion are associated with current aggregate and disaggregated performance and future performance, managers’ financial reporting decisions and managers’ incentives and actions to manage perceptions. Furthermore, we find that tone dispersion is associated with analysts’ and investors’ responses to conference call narratives. Our results suggest that tone dispersion both reflects and affects the information that managers convey through their narratives.

TL;DR: A new algorithm for ear recognition based on geometrical features extraction like (shape, mean, centroid and Euclidean distance between pixels) is presented, which is invariant to scaling, translation and rotation.
Abstract: The biometrics recognition has been paid more attention by people with the advancement of technology nowadays. The human ear is a perfect source of data for passive person identification. Ear seems to be a good candidate solution since ear is visible, their images are easy to take and structure of ear does not change radically over time. Ear satisfies biometric characteristic (universality, distinctiveness, permanence and collectability). In this paper we presented a new algorithm for ear recognition based on geometrical features extraction like (shape, mean, centroid and Euclidean distance between pixels). Firstly, we made a pre-processing phase by making all images have the same size. Then we used the snake model to detect the ear, and we applied median filter to remove noise, also we converted the images to binary format. After that we used canny edge and made some enhancement on the image, largest boundary is calculated and distance matrix is created then we extracted the image features. Finally, the extracted features were classified by using nearest neighbor with absolute error distance. This method is invariant to scaling, translation and rotation. The experimental results showed that the proposed approach gives better results and obtained over all accuracy almost 98%.

TL;DR: Ebselen is a relatively potent BBOX inhibitor, an observation which may in part reflect its cardioprotective properties.
Abstract: c-Butyrobetaine hydroxylase (BBOX) is a 2-oxoglutarate and Fe(II) dependent oxygenase that catalyses an essential step during carnitine biosynthesis in animals. BBOX is inhibited by ejection of structural zinc by a set of selenium containing analogues. Previous structural analyses indicated that an undisrupted N-terminal zinc binding domain of BBOX is required for catalysis. Ebselen is a relatively potent BBOX inhibitor, an observation which may in part reflect its cardioprotective properties.

TL;DR: Focusing on how readers consume information, a set of ten simple rules are presented to help you communicate the main idea of the paper and make the process of writing more efficient and pleasurable.
Abstract: Good scientific writing is essential to career development and to the progress of science. A well-structured manuscript allows readers and reviewers to get excited about the subject matter, to understand and verify the paper9s contributions, and to integrate them into a broader context. However, many scientists struggle with producing high-quality manuscripts and are typically given little training in paper writing. Focusing on how readers consume information, we present a set of 10 simple rules to help you get across the main idea of your paper. These rules are designed to make your paper more influential and the process of writing more efficient and pleasurable.
