Quantum Spin Hall Insulator State in HgTe Quantum Wells
Markus König,Steffen Wiedmann,Steffen Wiedmann,Christoph Brüne,Christoph Brüne,Andreas Roth,Andreas Roth,Hartmut Buhmann,Hartmut Buhmann,Laurens W. Molenkamp,Laurens W. Molenkamp,Xiao-Liang Qi,Xiao-Liang Qi,Shou-Cheng Zhang,Shou-Cheng Zhang +14 more
TL;DR: The quantum phase transition at the critical thickness, d = 6.3 nanometers, was independently determined from the magnetic field–induced insulator-to-metal transition, providing experimental evidence of the quantum spin Hall effect.
Quantum Spin Hall Insulator State in HgTe Quantum Wells
Markus König,Steffen Wiedmann,Steffen Wiedmann,Christoph Brüne,Christoph Brüne,Andreas Roth,Andreas Roth,Hartmut Buhmann,Hartmut Buhmann,Laurens W. Molenkamp,Laurens W. Molenkamp,Xiao-Liang Qi,Xiao-Liang Qi,Shou-Cheng Zhang,Shou-Cheng Zhang +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the quantum spin Hall effect was observed in HgTe/(Hg,Cd)Te quantum wells with well width d 6.3 nanometers and the residual conductance was independent of sample width, indicating that it is caused by edge states.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tuning the Structural and Optoelectronic Properties of Cs(2)AgBiBr(6)Double-Perovskite Single Crystals through Alkali-Metal Substitution
Masoumeh Keshavarz,Elke Debroye,Martin Ottesen,Cristina Martin,Cristina Martin,Heng Zhang,Eduard Fron,R. Küchler,Julian A. Steele,Martin Bremholm,Joris Van de Vondel,Hai I. Wang,Mischa Bonn,Maarten B. J. Roeffaers,Steffen Wiedmann,Johan Hofkens,Johan Hofkens +16 more
TL;DR: Alkali-substitution entails a tunability to the material system in its response to X-rays and structural properties that is most strongly revealed in Rb- substituted compounds whose X-ray sensitivity outperforms other double perovskite-based devices reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction phenomena in graphene seen through quantum capacitance
Geliang Yu,Rashid Jalil,Branson D. Belle,A. S. Mayorov,Peter Blake,Fred Schedin,Sergey V. Morozov,Leonid Ponomarenko,F. Chiappini,Steffen Wiedmann,Uli Zeitler,Mikhail I. Katsnelson,Andre K. Geim,Kostya S. Novoselov,D. C. Elias +14 more
TL;DR: Large-area high-quality graphene capacitors are used to study behavior of the density of states in this material in zero and high magnetic fields, revealing a number of interesting many-body effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tracking Structural Phase Transitions in Lead-Halide Perovskites by Means of Thermal Expansion.
Masoumeh Keshavarz,Martin Ottesen,Steffen Wiedmann,Michael T. Wharmby,R. Küchler,Haifeng Yuan,Elke Debroye,Julian A. Steele,Johan A. Martens,Nigel E. Hussey,Martin Bremholm,Maarten B. J. Roeffaers,Johan Hofkens +12 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that transport under steady-state illumination is considerably altered at the structural phase transition in the MA compounds, providing advanced insights into the evolution of the crystal structure with decreasing temperature that are essential to interpret the growing interest in investigating the electronic, optical, and photonic properties of lead-halide perovskite materials.
