Kovaltchouk,Józef Wiktor,Michael Poltermann,Guido di Prisco,Carlo Papucci,S. Gerland +27 more
TL;DR: Kongsfjorden is a glacial fjord in the Arctic (Svalbard) that is influenced by both Atlantic and Arctic water masses and harbours a mixture of boreal and Arctic flora and fauna as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of UV radiation on aquatic ecosystems and interactions with other environmental factors.
Donat-P. Häder,Craig E. Williamson,Sten-Åke Wängberg,Milla Rautio,Kevin C. Rose,Kunshan Gao,E. Walter Helbling,Rajeshwar P. Sinha,Robert C. Worrest +8 more
TL;DR: This assessment addresses how the knowledge of the interactive effects of UV radiation and climate change factors on aquatic ecosystems has advanced in the past four years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Environmental effects of ozone depletion, UV radiation and interactions with climate change: UNEP Environmental Effects Assessment Panel, update 2017

TL;DR: The present 2017 Update Report assesses some of the highlights and new insights about the interactive nature of the direct and indirect effects of UV radiation, atmospheric processes, and climate change.
Journal ArticleDOI
Species-dependent variation in algal sensitivity to chemical compounds
TL;DR: It was demonstrated that the species-dependent variation in algal sensitivity may reach over three orders of magnitude, the degree of variation depending on the chemical tested, and it is suggested that algal test batteries, using simple test techniques, replace single unialgal cultures in routine work.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induced Community Tolerance in Marine Periphyton established under Arsenate Stress
Hans Blanck,Sten-Åke Wängberg +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the effect of arsenate stress on marine periphyton communities and found that arsenate exerted a selection pressure on the community, leading to the replacement of sensitive species by tolerant ones which caused the overall arsenate tolerance of the community to increase.
