Journal ArticleDOI
Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in American free-ranging or captive pumas (Felis concolor) and bobcats (Lynx rufus).
Yoko Kikuchi,Bruno B Chomel,Rickie W. Kasten,Janice S. Martenson,Pamela K. Swift,Stephen J. O'Brien +5 more
TL;DR: To evaluate the importance of this wildlife reservoir, 438 serum samples collected between 1984 and 1999 from 438 pumas and 58 bobcats from North America, Central America and South America were screened for antibodies to T. gondii.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phenotypic expressions of CCR5-Δ32/Δ32 homozygosity
GT Nguyen,Mary Carrington,JA Beeler,Michael Dean,Louis M. Aledort,Philip M. Blatt,Alan R. Cohen,Donna DiMichele,M. E. Eyster,Craig M. Kessler,Barbara A. Konkle,Cindy A. Leissinger,Naomi L.C. Luban,Stephen J. O'Brien,Goedert Jj,Thomas R. O'Brien +15 more
TL;DR: CCR5-Delta 32/Delta 32 homozygosity does not provide broad protection against viral infections, and the prevalence of antibodies to nine other common viruses, HBV, and HCV was not related to CCR5 genotype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of weight change and weight cycling on risk of different subtypes of endometrial cancer
Christina M. Nagle,Louise Marquart,Chris Bain,Chris Bain,Stephen J. O'Brien,Petra H. Lahmann,Michael A. Quinn,Michael A. Quinn,Martin K. Oehler,Andreas Obermair,Amanda B. Spurdle,Penelope M. Webb +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that higher adult weight gain, and perhaps weight cycling, independently increase the risk of endometrial cancer, however women who lost weight and kept that weight off were not at increased risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Supporting layers of the glenohumeral joint. An anatomic study
TL;DR: The anatomy of the shoulder region is described in terms of four layers that overlie and support the glenohumeral joint, which will provide a more organized approach to facilitate surgical dissection in the region.
