Pretibial cyst formation after anterior cruciate ligament surgery with soft tissue autografts
Peter T. Simonian,Thomas L. Wickiewicz,Stephen J. O'Brien,Joshua S. Dines,J A Schatz,Russell F. Warren +5 more
TL;DR: Four cases of subcutaneous pretibial ganglion, with direct communication to the tibial tunnel after autologous reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) with hamstrings or iliotibial band, are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Complete Phylogeny of Pangolins: Scaling Up Resources for the Molecular Tracing of the Most Trafficked Mammals on Earth.
Philippe Gaubert,Philippe Gaubert,Agostinho Antunes,Hao Meng,Lin Miao,Stéphane Peigné,Fabienne Justy,Flobert Njiokou,Sylvain Dufour,Emmanuel Danquah,Jayanthi Alahakoon,Erik Verheyen,Erik Verheyen,William T. Stanley,Stephen J. O'Brien,Stephen J. O'Brien,Warren E. Johnson,Shu-Jin Luo +17 more
TL;DR: The authors' results establish that the thick-tailed pangolin (Manis crassicaudata) is sister-species of the Sunda and Palawan pangolins, and propose the subfamily Phatagininae subfam.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Variants in Nuclear-Encoded Mitochondrial Genes Influence AIDS Progression
Sher L. Hendrickson,James A. Lautenberger,Leslie W. Chinn,Michael Malasky,Efe Sezgin,Lawrence A. Kingsley,James J. Goedert,Gregory D. Kirk,Edward D. Gomperts,Susan Buchbinder,Jennifer L. Troyer,Stephen J. O'Brien +11 more
TL;DR: The modest influences of nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes found in the current study add support to the idea that mitochondrial function plays a role in AIDS pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polymorphisms of CUL5 are associated with CD4+ T cell loss in HIV-1 infected individuals.
Ping An,Priya Duggal,Lihua Wang,Stephen J. O'Brien,Sharyne Donfield,James J. Goedert,John P. Phair,Susan Buchbinder,Gregory D. Kirk,Cheryl A. Winkler +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of genetic polymorphisms in the CUL5 gene (encoding Cullin 5 protein) on AIDS disease progression in five HIV-1 longitudinal cohorts was examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular Phylogeny of the Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens)
TL;DR: Phylogenetic reconstruction by distance-based methods, maximum parsimony, and maximum likelihood clearly indicate a distinct bifurcation forming the Ursidae and the Procyonidae, and consistently place the red panda as an early divergence within the ProCyonidae radiation.
