A General Theory of Strength for Anisotropic Materials

TL;DR: In this article, an operationally simple strength criterion for anisotropic materials is developed from a scalar function of two strength tensors, which satisfies the invariant requirements of coordinate transforma tion, takes into account the difference in strengths due to positive and negative stresses, and can be specialized to account for different material symmetries, multi-dimensional space, and multi-axial stresses.

Introduction to composite materials

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a reference record created on 2005-11-18, modified on 2016-08-08 and used for Laminage Reference Record created on 2006-11/18.

Composite Materials: Design and Applications

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the use of composite materials in the manufacturing process of a composite piece and the characteristics of the composite material properties, such as anisotropic properties and anisotropy and elasticity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anisotropic strength of composites

TL;DR: In this paper, the strength of anisotropic composite materials subjected to any state of combined stress, predicted from basic strength characteristics of unidirectional layer, is estimated from the basic strength of composite materials.
