Journal ArticleDOI
An improved scale of solvent nucleophilicity based on the solvolysis of the S-methyldibenzothiophenium ion
Journal ArticleDOI
Essentially solvent-independent rates of solvolysis of the 1-adamantyldimethylsulfonium ion. Implications regarding nucleophilic assistance in solvolyses of tert-butyl derivatives and the NKL solvent nucleophilicity scale
Journal ArticleDOI
Nucleophilic participation in the solvolysis of the -butyldimethylsulfonium ion
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that electrophilic assistance would be the dominant factor for t -butyl chloride solvolysis with the t -butyldimethylsulfonium ion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solvolysis of 2-adamantyl trifluoromethanesulfonate: a YOTf scale
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlation of the Rates of Solvolysis of the Benzhydryldimethylsulfonium Ion. Application of the Aromatic Ring Parameter(1).
TL;DR: Values for the specific rates of solvolysis of the benzhydryldimethylsulfonium ion in 34 solvents have been analyzed using various forms of the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation, finding common-molecule return is observed and the product selectivities in ethanol-water mixtures are consistent with an S(N)1 mechanism.
