Abstract: Information, knowledge and competence are becoming increasingly important in the modern production processes. In the article, competence is considered as a combination of the ability to perceive, understand and use information based on existing knowledge. The competency-based education for the engineering specialists training is substantiated by the authors. To estimate the components of competence in decision-making and determine the factors of its formation, an appropriate questionnaire was developed. According to the survey results, the most and least important factors for the formation of competence in decision-making were identified. Processing of the survey results was carried out by using the basic principles of the applied measurements theory. Based on the results obtained, competency profiles in decision-making on components and formation factors were determined. The proposed methodological approach to estimate competence in decision-making allows revealing reserves of some of its characteristics development and can be implemented in the HEIs’ activities for the future specialists formation.

Abstract: Based on an analysis of economic development trends, the importance of the industrial sector of the economy has been identified. It has been argued that the further development of industries in the context of technological change in the formation of Industry 4.0 will have an impact on the labour market. The labour market, in turn, will impose updated requirements on engineering specialists in terms of a set of professional competences. Employers' requirements for the knowledge and skills of future employees are also changing. Therefore, the implementation of a competency-based approach in the training of engineering students is becoming more relevant in today's digitalised society. In this regard, the study proposes the use of distance education as a relevant tool for implementing the competency-based approach in Industry 4.0. The authors pointed out the features and advantages of distance education in gaining knowledge and developing professional competences for future engineers. In addition, the paper presents a list of key competences for engineering students in the context of shaping Industry 4.0.

Abstract: An integrated approach to the introduction of the latest educational technologies with the use of interactive forms of education in the electrical engineers and electromechanics preparation in a blended learning system is proposed. It has been proven that the use of simulation and game modeling, virtual laboratory workshops, case technologies in the study of the training course «Power Plants» will help to form professional competencies, help to understand the main directions and patterns of electrical energy at various types of power plants and help to understand ways to save fuel and energy resources, methods and ways of solving topical issues of energy supply in energy systems. An example of the use of methodological and software ensuring, pedagogical techniques and tools that will allow performing all types of load in the study of professional discipline by future specialists in the field of electrical engineering, electric power engineering and electromechanics is given. The research results can be used in the educational process in the formation of information and professional competencies of specialists in the field of electrical engineering, electric power engineering and electromechanics.

Abstract: In the context of deepening social and reform processes taking place in Ukraine, the dominant feature of the development of national education is the introduction of requirements in accordance with which the European emphasis on the assessment and quality standarts and control of education is growing. Improving the process of education quality is a new and main direction in the development of higher education in Europe, which is recognized by European governments, academia, international and intergovernmental organizations, the media. This process is accompanied by changes in the specialized education system and necessitates a scientific search for new mechanisms and methods of managing the educational process, bringing the content of higher education to the requirements and needs of the educational market. In particular, it concerns the application of the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) and the requirements of international standards ISO 9001 series for the construction of internal quality management systems in educational institutions. The existence of a quality management system is a generally accepted guarantee and confirmation of the quality indicators of education.

Abstract: The article considers the peculiarities of Information Technologies implementation in the distance learning process on the project-based approach. Studies have confirmed that, in addition to technical and information issues, distance education is complicated by the level of training of specialists, which affects the level of the necessary knowledge required for effective realisation of educational projects. Insufficient level of mastery of project-based methodological tools for distance learning, lack of willingness to implement IT innovations for educational content systematisation, and the educational space organisation are often the reasons that don't let Higher Education Institutions (HEI) expand e-learning profitability. In order to increase the level of compliance of the educational process with the needs of students and the educational services market, it is necessary to constantly modernize the learning process. For this, it is necessary to constantly test new educational formats, gamify the educational process, in particular, implement project-based distance learning by implementing modern information technologies.
