The EAGLE simulations of galaxy formation: public release of halo and galaxy catalogues

TL;DR: The EAGLE suite of cosmological hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy formation has been released for general use as discussed by the authors, including a large number of properties of haloes and galaxies and their merger trees, including stellar masses, star formation rates, metallicities, photometric measurements and mock gri images.
Journal ArticleDOI

The dark nemesis of galaxy formation : why hot haloes trigger black hole growth and bring star formation to an end

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple analytic model for the interaction between star formation-driven outflows and gas accretion on to the supermassive black hole at the galaxy's center is developed.
Journal ArticleDOI

A chronicle of galaxy mass assembly in the EAGLE simulation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the mass assembly of central galaxies in the Evolution and Assembly of Galaxies and their Environments (EAGLE) hydrodynamical simulations and found that the dominant contribution comes from mergers with galaxies of mass greater than one-tenth of the main progenitor's mass.
