100% recycled hot mix asphalt lab samples were modified with five generic and one proprietary rejuvenators at 12% dose and tested for binder and mixture properties. Waste Vegetable Oil, Waste Vegetable Grease, Organic Oil, Distilled Tall Oil, and Aromatic Extract reduced the Superpave performance grade (PG) from 94–12 of extracted binder to PG 64-22 while waste engine oil required higher dose. All products ensured excellent rutting resistance while providing longer fatigue life when compared to virgin mixtures and most lowered critical cracking temperature. Rejuvenated samples required more compaction energy compared to virgin and some oils reduced moisture resistance slightly.

Construction and demolition waste along with waste obtained from reconstruction or resurfacing of pavements produces enormous amount of aggregates. Many studies have been carried out to analyse the use of Recycled Concrete Aggregates (RCA) and Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) in flexible and rigid pavement respectively, but very few on each other Due to the benefits offered by rigid pavement, developing countries like India is paying more attention in constructing the same. But the lack of funds and natural aggregates seems to be one of the hurdles, which paves the path for use of RAP in rigid pavement construction. The overall objective of this paper is to bring out the studies conducted on use of RAP in rigid pavements. It is concluded that RAP with or without admixtures can be used in rigid pavements after thoroughly investigating its respective properties.

Seedling establishment of chickpea cultivars in varying sowing environments under field conditions.

Fifteen cultivars of chickpea were evaluated by having vigour test viz. percent germination, shoot length, root length, dry matter per seedling, vigour index and growth rate index. These were determined in the laboratory of National Seed Project centered at Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar during 2005. The germination was below 90 per cent at 350C temperature in HC-3, HK-1, HC-1, H-208, Gora Hisari and H Gaurav cultivars. At 250C temperature, germination rate index was above 13.0 in most of the cultivars. Seed vigor (SG1) was maximum around 250C. It is concluded that temperature had a strong influence on the germination and seed vigour of different chickpea cultivars.
