TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that higher dimensional complex manifolds provide the analog of superspace for W-gravity and that W-symmetry linearises on these spaces.
Abstract: Recently, certain higher dimensional complex manifolds were obtained in [hep-th/9412078] by associating a higher dimensional uniformisation to the generalised Teichm\"uller spaces of Hitchin. The extra dimensions are provided by the ``times'' of the generalised KdV hierarchy. In this paper, we complete the proof that these manifolds provide the analog of superspace for W-gravity and that W-symmetry linearises on these spaces. This is done by explicitly constructing the relationship between the Beltrami differentials which naturally occur in the higher dimensional manifolds and the Beltrami differentials which occur in W-gravity. This also resolves an old puzzle regarding the relationship between KdV flows and W-diffeomorphisms.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that an explicit class of toric Kahler metrics provide a unified framework in which to describe both the asymptotically flat and asymptonically AdS solutions.
Abstract: Stationary, supersymmetric supergravity solutions in five dimensions have Kahler metrics on the four-manifold orthogonal to the orbits of a time-like Killing vector. We show that an explicit class of toric Kahler metrics provide a unified framework in which to describe both the asymptotically flat and asymptotically AdS solutions. The Darboux co-ordinates used for the local description turn out to be ''ring-like.'' We conclude with an Ansatz for studying the existence of supersymmetric black rings in AdS.

TL;DR: In this article, a study on the sedimentary facies characterization and depositional environment interpretations for the K#Field (K-Oil Field) in Cambay petroleum basin of western onshore, India was conducted based on the sub-surface data from drilled wells, including well logs, borehole images, cores and the regional knowledge of the basin.
Abstract: A study on the sedimentary facies characterization and depositional environment interpretations for the K#Field (K-Oil Field) in Cambay petroleum basin of western onshore, India was conducted based on the sub-surface data from drilled wells, including well logs, borehole images, cores and the regional knowledge of the basin. In this work, an effort is made to integrate the current data from seismics and well logging, to study and analyze its depositional environments and establish the petroleum systems. The study regions for the present work are K45 and K48 blocks. The target strata includes 2 oil-bearing formations of Paleogene, which is about 3600 ft; they are M#Fm (M-Formation) of the Eocene and N#Fm (N-Formation) of Oligocene, subdivided into 11 zones. The sediment fill is mostly of Tertiary. The research attempts to decipher the oil - depositional source correlation problems of the basin. Sedimentary models were established referring to the core analysis, core photographs and well logs. Reservoir and heterogeneity study included reservoir lithology features, physical properties and pore structure features.Well facies analysis of oil well WELL-0297 and WELL-0129 was done and the results were analyzed for further drilling of new wells for oil and gas exploration. The study found that the Eocene, Oligocene, Miocene and Paleogene are fluviatile facies sand and mud interbed sediment with the thickness 2000-4000 ft, which are main oil-bearing formations in these areas. Studies concluded that the fluvial reservoirs of the K#Field are characterized by large variations from laterally extensive bodies with good interconnectedness and high net-to-gross ratios, multi-storey ribbon bodies with poor interconnections and low net-to-gross ratios.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review article provides a pedagogical introduction to various classes of chiral string compactifications to four dimensions with D-branes and fluxes with the main concern being to provide all necessary technical tools to explicitly construct four-dimensional orientifold vacua, with the final aim to come as close as possible to the supersymmetric standard model.

TL;DR: In this paper, a cubic field theory was constructed for all genus amplitudes of the topological A-model for all non-compact toric Calabi-Yau threefold.
Abstract: We construct a cubic field theory which provides all genus amplitudes of the topological A-model for all non-compact toric Calabi-Yau threefolds. The topology of a given Feynman diagram encodes the topology of a fixed Calabi-Yau, with Schwinger parameters playing the role of Kahler classes of the threefold. We interpret this result as an operatorial computation of the amplitudes in the B-model mirror which is the quantum Kodaira-Spencer theory. The only degree of freedom of this theory is an unconventional chiral scalar on a Riemann surface. In this setup we identify the B-branes on the mirror Riemann surface as fermions related to the chiral boson by bosonization.

TL;DR: The moduli space of positive representations is a topologically trivial open domain in the space of all representations as discussed by the authors, and all positive representations of the fundamental group of S to G(R) are faithful, discrete and positive hyperbolic.
Abstract: Let G be a split semisimple algebraic group over Q with trivial center. Let S be a compact oriented surface, with or without boundary. We define positive representations of the fundamental group of S to G(R), construct explicitly all positive representations, and prove that they are faithful, discrete, and positive hyperbolic; the moduli space of positive representations is a topologically trivial open domain in the space of all representations. When S have holes, we defined two moduli spaces closely related to the moduli spaces of G-local systems on S. We show that they carry a lot of interesting structures. In particular we define a distinguished collection of coordinate systems, equivariant under the action of the mapping class group of S. We prove that their transition functions are subtraction free. Thus we have positive structures on these moduli spaces. Therefore we can take their points with values in any positive semifield. Their positive real points provide the two higher Teichmuller spaces related to G and S, while the points with values in the tropical semifields provide the lamination spaces. We define the motivic avatar of the Weil–Petersson form for one of these spaces. It is related to the motivic dilogarithm.

TL;DR: In this article, an approach to estimate the number of vacua of string/M theory which can realize the Standard Model is presented. But this approach is limited to string theory.
Abstract: We discuss systematic approaches to the classification of string/M theory vacua, and physical questions this might help us resolve. To this end, we initiate the study of ensembles of effective Lagrangians, which can be used to precisely study the predictive power of string theory, and in simple examples can lead to universality results. Using these ideas, we outline an approach to estimating the number of vacua of string/M theory which can realize the Standard Model.
