TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated philanthropy with special reference to libraries in India and found that libraries depend on various forms of giving and that smaller donations have less impact than larger ones.
Abstract: Philanthropy is regarded as a voluntary private virtue for public good. Terms like Gifting, charity, fundraising, contributions, generosity, donations, aid, bequests, offerings, handouts, patronage are sometimes synonymously or interchangeably used for philanthropy. There are public, private, corporate philanthropic foundations all over the world, that work in collaboration with NGOs and other governmental organisations towards social good. Despite economic challenges faced worldwide, global philanthropy is predicted to continue its growth. In the age of declining financial assistance for libraries, un-certain economic condition, budget cuts libraries are facing a lot of economic crunch. To preserve libraries, philanthropy is most crucial and essential. Most of general public do not have multi-million dollar fortunes to donate, but this does not mean that smaller donations have less impact than larger ones. Libraries depend on various forms of giving. This paper investigates philanthropy with special reference to libraries in India.

TL;DR: The paper explores the dictum of the University Grants Commission of India to submit electronic version of theses and dissertation which led to the creation and access of Electronic Thesis and Dissertations bibliographic and/or full-text database at the University level.
Abstract: The paper introduces the merits of Open Access resources especially in a developing country scenario. It delineates the different problems of the Indian LIS professionals in the provision of higher education resources. It describes the key players in the creation of open scholarly archives. Some important providers of open study materials included are eGyankosh by Indira Gandhi National Open University, a premier Distance Learning provider; eGurukul, a repository at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, etc. The paper also discusses the open archiving resources of premier higher learning and research institutes of India, namely Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Indian Institute of Information TechnologyAllahabad, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi , Indian National Science Academy, Indian Statistical InstituteBangalore, National Aerospace Laboratories, National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, National Chemical Laboratory, National Institute of Oceanography, National Institute of TechnologyRourkela, Raman Research institute, etc. It explores the dictum of the University Grants Commission of India to submit electronic version of theses and dissertation which led to the creation and access of Electronic Thesis and Dissertations bibliographic and/or full-text database at the University level. The major Indian government initiative (in collaboration with Education and Research Network, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and some other prestigious bodies) called „Digital Library of India‟ has been explored. With the ultimate goal of digitizing all Indian books and the immediate goal of capturing 1 million pages, it is also a useful resource for higher learners. Other notable attempts include biomedical resources by medIND (called the ‘Indian Medlars’) by National Informatics Centre covers full text of IndMED journals that covers peer reviewed Indian biomedical literature. OpenMED@NIC provides free service to academics, researchers, and students working in the area of Medical and Allied Sciences. One important resource in Library & Information Science Studies namely, Librarian‟s Digital Library (LDL) at Documentation Research & Training Centre (DRTC) has also been covered.

Abstract: This paper showcases three education initiatives from the Niharakana Rehabilitation Centre, the Nabadisha Project by the Women’s Interlink Foundation and education-related projects by the Hope Foundation. These initiatives were coordinated by a school teacher, government bodies (Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Kolkata Police) and a Non Government Organisation (NGO). All three aim at facilitating learning and information among the street children as well as distressed children in Kolkata City in the state of West Bengal in India.

Abstract: An experiment was carried out at Research laboratory, Department of Horticulture, North Eastern Hill University Meghalaya, India to study Bio-chemical characters of Bottle gourd germplasms for 30 bottle gourd genotypes. The experiment was conducted using a completely randomized design with three replications. The collected accessions exhibited a wide range of variability in their chemical composition. The characters studied were TSS (◦Brix), Total Sugar(%), Reducing Sugar (%), Ascorbic acid (mg/100g), Total soluble Protein (%), Total Carbohydrate (%), Moisture (%), Dry matter (%), Total ash (%), Total phenols (%), Calcium (mg/100g) and Crude Fibre (%). A wide range of variation was recorded for all the characters under study which indicates that there is better possibility for selection for the improvement of these characters.

TL;DR: The field experiment was carried out at Horticulture Farm, Department of Horticulture, North Eastern Hill University to evaluate bottle gourd germplasms for horticultural traits and to identify superior genotypes in 30 local bottle-gourd genotypes during 2018 and 2019 as discussed by the authors .
Abstract: The field experiment was carried out at Horticulture Farm, Department of Horticulture, North Eastern Hill University to evaluate bottle gourd germplasms for horticultural traits and to identify superior genotypes in 30 local bottle gourd genotypes during 2018 and 2019. The experiment was conducted using a randomized block design with three replications. The germplasm lines have been collected from places of Garo Hills districts of Meghalaya. The collected accessions exhibited a wide range of morphological diversity for qualitative as well as for quantitative traits. The grand mean of yield of marketable fruit (kg/plant) was 32.39 kg with the lowest fruit yield/plant of 14.87 kg recorded in GHA-18 and the highest fruit yield of 63.74 kg, fruit yield/plant recorded in GHGA-8. A wide range of variation was recorded for all the characters which indicated that there was better scope for selection for the improvement of these characters.

TL;DR: In this paper, a study conducted on the employability of LIS graduates of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda over a period of ten years is presented.
Abstract: This paper discusses the employability of LIS graduates, its trend, and the skills needed to enhance employability. It is based on a study conducted on the employability of LIS graduates of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda over a period of ten years. Findings show that employability of LIS graduates is nearly 100 %. Employability trends can be traced to changes in the nature of employers, salary and designation in recent years. Further, communication skills and IT skills are found to be very indispensable employability skills that the LIS graduates should possess. This finding has implications towards regular revamping of LIS curriculum design in a way that would enable the LIS graduates to meet the expectations of changing information job market.
