Transendocardial, Autologous Bone Marrow Cell Transplantation for Severe, Chronic Ischemic Heart Failure
Emerson C. Perin,Hans F. Dohmann,Radovan Borojevic,Suzana A. Silva,Andre L.S. Sousa,Claudio Tinoco Mesquita,Maria Isabel D. Rossi,Antonio Carlos Carvalho,Hélio S. Dutra,Hans J.F. Dohmann,Guilherme V. Silva,Luciano Belem,Ricardo Vivacqua,Fernando Oswaldo Dias Rangel,Roberto Esporcatte,Yong-Jian Geng,William K. Vaughn,Joao A.R. Assad,Evandro Tinoco Mesquita,James T. Willerson +19 more
TL;DR: The present study demonstrates the relative safety of intramyocardial injections of bone marrow–derived stem cells in humans with severe heart failure and the potential for improving myocardial blood flow with associated enhancement of regional and global left ventricular function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association between change in high density lipoprotein cholesterol and cardiovascular disease morbidity and mortality: systematic review and meta-regression analysis
Matthias Briel,Matthias Briel,Ignacio Ferreira-González,John J. You,Paul J. Karanicolas,Elie A. Akl,Ping-ping Wu,Boris Blechacz,Dirk Bassler,Xinge Wei,Asheer Sharman,Irene Whitt,Suzana A. Silva,Zahira Khalid,Alain J Nordmann,Qi Zhou,Stephen D. Walter,Noah Vale,Neera Bhatnagar,Christopher O'Regan,Edward J Mills,Heiner C. Bucher,Victor M. Montori,Gordon H. Guyatt +23 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that simply increasing the amount of circulating high density lipoprotein cholesterol does not reduce the risk of coronaryHeart disease events, coronary heart disease deaths, or total deaths, and the results support reduction in lowdensity lipop protein cholesterol as the primary goal for lipid modifying interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved Exercise Capacity and Ischemia 6 and 12 Months After Transendocardial Injection of Autologous Bone Marrow Mononuclear Cells for Ischemic Cardiomyopathy
Emerson C. Perin,Hans F. Dohmann,Radovan Borojevic,Suzana A. Silva,Andre L.S. Sousa,Guilherme V. Silva,Claudio Tinoco Mesquita,Luciano Belem,William K. Vaughn,Fernando Oswaldo Dias Rangel,Joao A.R. Assad,Antonio Carlos Carvalho,Rodrigo Branco,Maria Isabel D. Rossi,Hans J.F. Dohmann,James T. Willerson +15 more
TL;DR: The 6- and 12-month follow-up data suggest that transendocardial injection of ABMMNCs in patients with end-stage ischemic heart disease may produce a durable therapeutic effect and improve myocardial perfusion and exercise capacity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transendocardial Autologous Bone Marrow Mononuclear Cell Injection in Ischemic Heart Failure Postmortem Anatomicopathologic and Immunohistochemical Findings
Hans F. Dohmann,Emerson C. Perin,Christina Maeda Takiya,Guilherme V. Silva,Suzana A. Silva,Andre L.S. Sousa,Claudio Tinoco Mesquita,Maria-Isabel D. Rossi,Bernardo Miguel de Oliveira Pascarelli,Isabella Mariana de Assis,Hélio S. Dutra,Joao A.R. Assad,Rodrigo V. Castello-Branco,Cantidio Drummond,Hans J.F. Dohmann,James T. Willerson,Radovan Borojevic +16 more
TL;DR: Eleven months after treatment, morphological and immunocytochemical analysis of the sites of ABMM cell injection showed no abnormal cell growth or tissue lesions and suggested that an active process of angiogenesis was present in both the fibrotic cicatricial tissue and the adjacent cardiac muscle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Autologous Bone-Marrow Mononuclear Cell Transplantation after Acute Myocardial Infarction: Comparison of Two Delivery Techniques
Suzana A. Silva,Andre L.S. Sousa,Andrea Ferreira Haddad,Jader Cunha de Azevedo,Vinício Elia Soares,Cintia M. Peixoto,Ana J S Soares,Aurora Felice Castro issa,Luis Renato V Felipe,Rodrigo Branco,João A Addad,Rodrigo C Moreira,Fábio Antônio Abrantes Tuche,Claudio Tinoco Mesquita,Cristina C O Drumond,Amarino Carvalho de Oliveira Junior,Carlos E. Rochitte,José Hugo Mendes Luz,Arnaldo Rabischoffisky,Fernanda Belloni dos Santos Nogueira,Rosana B C Vieira,Hamilton Silva Junior,Radovan Borojevic,Hans F. Dohmann +23 more
TL;DR: Injection procedures through anterograde and retrograde approaches seem to be feasible and safe in autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells transplantation in ST elevation myocardial infarction, and retention by damaged heart tissue was apparently higher when the anterogsrade approach was used.
