A Review on Heavy Metal Concentration in Potable Water Sources in Nigeria: Human Health Effects and Mitigating Measures

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed the various potable water sources, heavy metal concentration, and its associated health effects in Nigeria and suggested possible treatment and mitigating measures to avoid such harmful effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of biogas production from palm oil mill effluents using different configurations of bioreactors

TL;DR: UAMAS is the best configuration for methane production from POME during anaerobic treatment, and could contribute to energy sources of oil palm producing nations, while preventing the attendant environmental impacts associated with its disposal.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Review of Heavy Metal Concentration and Potential Health Implications of Beverages Consumed in Nigeria

TL;DR: It is suggested that heavy metal concentration in the feedstocks and water should be monitored by producers, and its concentration in beverages should also be monitoring by appropriate regulatory agencies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Air Quality Impacts of Smallholder Oil Palm Processing in Nigeria

TL;DR: In this paper, six smallholder oil palm processing mills were studied in Elele, Nigeria, and air emission parameters (NO2, NH3, CO, H2S, SO2, VOC), noise and meteorology (wind speed, temperature, relative humidity and pressure) were determined at three distances (10 ft, 25 ft and 50 ft) in both wind ward and lee ward directions from the mills covering boiling and digestion activities.

Enumeration of Total Heterotrophic Bacteria and Some Physico- Chemical Characteristics of Surface Water Used for Drinking Sources in Wilberforce Island, Nigeria

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the total heterotrophic bacteria (THB) counts and some physico-chemical characteristics of Rivers surrounding Wilberforce Island, Nigeria and found that significant positive correlation (P<0.05) exist in the THB density of both rivers; upstream (Agudama-Ekpetiama and downstream (Akaibiri) of River Nun with regard to ammonium and nitrate.
