Journal ArticleDOI

1-Methylcyclopropene: a review

TL;DR: In this article, a review of the use of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) as an inhibitor of ethylene action is presented, which is a tool that can help scientists make major advances in understanding the role of the chemical in plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

1-Methylcyclopropene Inhibits Apple Ripening

TL;DR: In this article, an ethylene action inhibitor, 1-methylcyclopropene (MCP), was applied to preclimacteric and climacteric apple (Malus sylvestris L. (Mill.) var. Mansf.) fruit.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of apple superficial scald, soft scald, core flush, and greasiness is reduced by MCP.

TL;DR: Apples treated with MCP did not develop superficial scald or peel greasiness through 6 months storage plus ripening at 20 degrees C for 7 days, and core flush was not observed in MCP-treated fruit until 6 months after treatment when the incidence was still lower compared to control fruit.

Method of counteracting an ethylene response in plants

TL;DR: In this article, a method of inhibiting an ethylene response in a plant is presented, which comprises applying to the plant an effective ethylene reaction-inhibiting amount of cyclopropene, 1.1.1, or derivatives thereof.
