Studies on the biosynthesis of gibberellins from (−)-kaurenoic acid in cultures of Gibberella Fujikuroi
TL;DR: A study of the time-course of the conversion of kaurenoic acid into gibberellins provides evidence that the sequence of steps involves an overall change toward higher oxidation levels, with GA-4 and GA-7 at an earlier stage on the synthetic pathway than GA-1 andGA-3.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circular dichroism and optical rotatory dispersion of sesquiterpene lactones
TL;DR: In this paper, the CD curves of a large number of sesquiterpene lactones together with a limited number of ORD curves have been measured and a simple correlation between the sign of the Cotton effect (CE) and the stereochemistry of the α-methylene-γ-lactone chromophore can be deduced from the resulting data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure-antimicrobial activity relationships among the sesquiterpene lactones and related compounds
TL;DR: In this paper, the results obtained show that the beta unsubstituted cyclopentenone ring moiety contributes to moderate antimicrobial activity against Gram positive bacteria, independent of the presence or absence of an α-methylene-γ-lactone moiety.
Journal ArticleDOI
A proanthocyanidin from avocado seed
T.A. Geissman,H.F.K. Dittmar +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a proanthocyanin has been isolated from avocado seed, which consists of two flavan-derived units joined by a carbon-carbon linkage, and the analytical and spectral data presented in this paper lead to the conclusion that the avocado proanthOCyanin consists of 2
Journal ArticleDOI
Methoxylated flavonoids from Artemisia
E. Rodriguez,N.J. Carman,G. Vander Velde,J.H. McReynolds,Tom J. Mabry,M.A. Irwin,T.A. Geissman +6 more
TL;DR: One new and six known flavonoid methyl ethers were isolated variously from seven Artemisia taxa as mentioned in this paper, including dihydroquercetin 7,3′-dimethyl ether, which was obtained from A. pygmaea.
