Abstract: A facile and green route for the synthesis of metallic nanoparticles is of significant intriguing, as it provides simple, rapid, clean, nontoxic, easily available, energy-efficient, cost-effective fabrication method. We reported environmentally benign and unexplored plant Aglaia elaeagnoidea flower extract for the synthesis of spherical and crystalline silver (Ag) and gold (Au) nanoparticles with an excellent robustness against agglomeration. The resultant nanoparticles were characterized using UV–Vis spec., FTIR, XRD, FESEM, EDAX, and TEM techniques. The uniqueness of our method lies in fast synthesis (10 min for Ag NPs) and ultra rapid homogeneous and heterogeneous complete degradation of Methylene Blue and Congo Red within few seconds using the synthesized Ag and Au NPs as the catalyst, respectively. Whereas more than 90% conversion of 4-Nitrophenol to 4-Aminophenol within few minutes for homogenous and few seconds for heterogeneous method using Ag and Au NPs were obtained. Hence, the results of this study demonstrate the possible application of biosynthesized of Ag and Au NPs as nanocatalyst in waste water treatment.

TL;DR: The cytotoxicity assay confirmed that the prepared nanostructures are non - toxic to normal healthy RBC's and in-vitro anticancer efficiency of MgO nanostructure against human lung cancer cell line (A549) was investigated.
Abstract: Magnesium oxide (MgO) nanostructures were prepared using microwave-assisted (M 1) and hydrothermal (M 2) methods and characterized by XRD, SEM and FT-IR. It exhibits cubic structure with an average crystallite size of 20 nm (M 1) and 14 nm (M 2) and the lattice strain (W H plot) is 0.0017 (M 1), 0.0037 (M 2). It's spherical and rods like structures are confirmed through SEM and TEM. The vibrational stretching mode of Mg O is 439 (M 1) and 449 cm−1 (M 2). The optical bandgap is estimated as 5.93 eV (M 1) and 5.85 eV (M 2) through UV–Vis spectra. The fluorescence spectrum shows emission peaks at 414 and 437 (M 1) and 367 and 385 nm (M 2). The photodegradation studies of MgO nanostructures were assessed by monitoring the decolorization of methylene blue and Congo red dyes in aqueous solution under sunlight irradiation. The antibacterial activities of M 1 and M 2 are investigated against the gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Shigella flexneri, Salmonella typhi, Proteus mirabilis, Aeromonas hydrophila and Vibrio cholera) and gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis and Rhodococcus rhodochrous) bacteria. The zone of inhibition of 24 (M 1) and 25 mm (M 2) indicates high antibacterial activity towards the gram negative bacterium A. hydrophila. Confocal laser scanning microscopic (CLSM) analysis was utilized for understanding the variation in antibacterial activity between different orientations of MgO nanostructures. The cytotoxicity assay confirmed that the prepared nanostructures are non – toxic to normal healthy RBC's. In-vitro anticancer efficiency (IC50) of MgO nanostructures against human lung cancer cell line (A549) was investigated.

TL;DR: The newly synthesized CuO Nps proved to be an interesting material for electrochemical and biological studies and showed good stability and reproducibility over a period of 120 days.
Abstract: Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO Nps) were synthesized using Caesalpinia bonducella seed extract via a green synthetic pathway and were evaluated for electrocatalytic properties by carrying out electrochemical detection of riboflavin [vitamin B2 (VB2)]. The seeds of C. bonducella are known to have strong antioxidant properties arising due to the presence of various components, including citrulline, phytosterinin, β-carotene, and flavonoids, which serve as reducing, stabilizing, and capping agents. The synthesized CuO Nps were characterized using UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetrc analysis-differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy and further used as a modifier for a graphite electrode surface. The modified electrode was electrochemically characterized by cyclic voltammetry, square-wave voltammetry, and chronoamperometry techniques and then assessed for electrocatalysis by carrying out the detection of VB2. The electrochemical sensor could be used for nanomolar detection of VB2 with an observed linear range of 3.13-56.3 nM with a limit of detection of 1.04 nM. The electrode showed good stability and reproducibility over a period of 120 days. The CuO Nps were further analyzed for antibacterial effect with Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and in both cases, high antibacterial activity was clearly observed. The newly synthesized nanoparticles, thus, proved to be an interesting material for electrochemical and biological studies.
