TL;DR: In this paper, a film of a vinyl alcohol polymer that contains from 0.01 to 20 mol % of cationic group-containing units and contains from 1.5 to 24mol % of α-olefin units having at most 4 carbon atoms was presented.
Abstract: The invention is a film of a vinyl alcohol polymer that contains from 0.01 to 20 mol % of cationic group-containing units and contains from 0.5 to 24 mol % of α-olefin units having at most 4 carbon atoms. The polyvinyl alcohol film gives polarizing films and polarizer which are resistant to water and have good polarizing properties and which are free from a problem of irregular coloration.

TL;DR: In this article, the problem of obtaining a polyvinyl alcohol polymer film hard to generate wrinkles at the time of stretching and to also obtain a polarizing film optimum as a wide and large-sized liquid crystal display screen reduced in color irregularity was solved.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyvinyl alcohol polymer film hard to generate wrinkles at the time of stretching and to also obtain a polarizing film optimum as a wide and large-sized liquid crystal display screen reduced in color irregularity. SOLUTION: The retardation difference between two points separated from each other by 1 cm in the TD direction of the polyvinyl alcohol polymer film 6 is set to 5 nm or less. Further, the length (a-b-c) of the surface drying the polyvinyl alcohol polymer film 6 is set to 3-200 m and the moisture content of the polyvinyl alcohol polymer film 6 at a time when passed along the drying surface to be peeled is set to 50 wt.% or less.

TL;DR: An interlayer for laminated glasses which does not cause the moire phenomenon even when having an embossed pattern with grooves and ridges disposed regularly or arranged at a regular interval, hence has satisfactory workability in cutting or laminating, and is highly effective in expelling air in preliminary press bonding as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: An interlayer for laminated glasses which does not cause the moire phenomenon even when having an embossed pattern with grooves and ridges disposed regularly or arranged at a regular interval, hence has satisfactory workability in cutting or laminating, and is highly effective in expelling air in preliminary press bonding; and a high-quality laminated glass produced with the same which is almost free from quality defects caused by residual bubbles. The interlayer is highly effective in air expelling even without strictly controlling the air expelling initiation temperature in the preliminary press bonding, is excellent in nonblocking properties during storage, handleability during glass processing, and productivity, and can be easily and efficiently used under various processing conditions. It comprises a thermoplastic resin sheet having on each side thereof an embossed pattern comprising grooves and ridges.

TL;DR: In this paper, a water-soluble copolymer film was proposed for making pouches to contain a unit dose of liquid detergent, such as a liquid laundry detergent.
Abstract: Generally speaking, the present invention is a water-soluble copolymer film comprising a hydrolyzed copolymer of vinyl acetate and a second monomer, the resultant polyvinyl alcohol copolymer having a degree of hydrolysis, expressed as a percentage of vinyl acetate units converted to vinyl alcohol units, of from about 90% to 100%. The second monomer is preferably selected from the group of monomers having carboxylate functionality or sulfonate functionality. The resulting water-soluble copolymer film is disclosed for use in making pouches to contain a unit dose of liquid detergent, such as a liquid laundry detergent. However, it is an aspect of the copolymer film that film solubility is not significantly affected adversely by the detergent. Such film produces pouches having a greater storage shelf-life over prior art water-soluble film.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate which is capable of uniformly pressurizing a laminate (a polarizing film and a transparent film) constituting a polarising plate even if using sticking rolls of which the diameter is relatively smaller, was presented.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate which is capable of uniformly pressurizing a laminate (a polarizing film and a transparent film) constituting a polarizing plate even if using sticking rolls of which the diameter is relatively smaller, and an apparatus for manufacturing a polarizing plate.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a polarizing plate includes: an adhesive coating process for applying an active energy ray curable adhesive to one surface of a transparent film or to one surface or both surfaces of a polarizing film; a sticking process for sticking the transparent film and the polarizing film by pressing at least one of a pair of sticking rolls toward a direction of the other sticking roll by using at least one pressing roll provided in contact with the sticking rolls in a state where a laminate formed by laminating the transparent film on one surface or both surfaces of the polarizing film via the adhesive is interposed between the pair of sticking rolls rotating in a conveyance direction; and an active energy ray irradiation process for curing the adhesive by irradiating the laminate with the active energy ray. A diameter of the center part of the pressing roll is larger than a diameter of the center part of the sticking rolls in contact with the pressing roll.
