First-principles calculations for development of low elastic modulus Ti alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, the elastic constants of the polycrystals for these Ti or Zr binary alloys were calculated using the Voigt-Reuss-Hill averaging scheme, and it was shown that the Young's moduli of these polycrystal alloys have the minimum values in the vicinity of 0.25.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elastic deformation behavior of multi-functional Ti-Nb-Ta-Zr-O alloys

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of cold working on the elastic properties of a newly developed multi-functional β titanium alloy, GUM METAL, using in-situ XRD and EBSP analysis was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elastic properties of Gum Metal

TL;DR: In situ X-ray diffraction measurements under tensile loading and dynamic mechanical analysis were performed to investigate the mechanisms of elastic deformation in Gum Metal as discussed by the authors, which indicated that cold working substantially decreases the elastic modulus while increasing the yield strength, thereby confirming nonlinearity in the elastic range.

Green compact and process for compacting the same, metallic sintered body and process for producing the same, worked component part and method of working

TL;DR: A process for compacting a green compact includes the steps of applying a higher fatty acid-based lubricant to an inner surface of a die, filling a raw material powder whose major component is an active metallic element into the die, compacting the powder by warm pressurizing, and ejecting the green compact from the die as mentioned in this paper.
