Sensitivity and specificity of mammography and adjunctive ultrasonography to screen for breast cancer in the Japan Strategic Anti-cancer Randomized Trial (J-START): a randomised controlled trial
Noriaki Ohuchi,Akihiko Suzuki,Tomotaka Sobue,Masaaki Kawai,Seiichiro Yamamoto,Ying-Fang Zheng,Yoko Narikawa Shiono,Hiroshi Saito,Shinichi Kuriyama,Eriko Tohno,Tokiko Endo,Akira Fukao,Ichiro Tsuji,Takuhiro Yamaguchi,Yasuo Ohashi,Mamoru Fukuda,Takanori Ishida +16 more
TL;DR: Adjunctive ultrasonography increases sensitivity and detection rate of early cancers in asymptomatic women and reduces mortality in young women or women with dense breasts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Single-institute comparative analysis of unrelated bone marrow transplantation and cord blood transplantation for adult patients with hematologic malignancies.
Satoshi Takahashi,Tohru Iseki,Tohru Iseki,Jun Ooi,Jun Ooi,Akira Tomonari,Akira Tomonari,Kashiya Takasugi,Kashiya Takasugi,Yoko Shimohakamada,Yoko Shimohakamada,Toshiki Yamada,Toshiki Yamada,Kaoru Uchimaru,Kaoru Uchimaru,Arinobu Tojo,Arinobu Tojo,Naoki Shirafuji,Naoki Shirafuji,Hideki Kodo,Hideki Kodo,Kenzaburo Tani,Kenzaburo Tani,Tsuneo A. Takahashi,Tsuneo A. Takahashi,Takuhiro Yamaguchi,Takuhiro Yamaguchi,Shigetaka Asano,Shigetaka Asano +28 more
TL;DR: Data suggest that CBT could be safely and effectively used for adult patients with hematologic malignancies and showed better TRM and DFS results compared with BMT, despite the higher human leukocyte antigen mismatching rate and lower number of infused cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative single-institute analysis of cord blood transplantation from unrelated donors with bone marrow or peripheral blood stem-cell transplants from related donors in adult patients with hematologic malignancies after myeloablative conditioning regimen
Satoshi Takahashi,Jun Ooi,Akira Tomonari,Takaaki Konuma,Nobuhiro Tsukada,Maki Oiwa-Monna,Kenji Fukuno,Michihiro Uchiyama,Kashiya Takasugi,Tohru Iseki,Arinobu Tojo,Takuhiro Yamaguchi,Shigetaka Asano,Shigetaka Asano +13 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that unrelated cord blood could be as safe and effective a stem-cell source as related bone marrow or mobilized peripheral blood for adult patients when it is used as a primary unrelated stem- cell source.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contact lens wear is associated with decrease of meibomian glands.
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of contact lens wear on the meibomian glands using a newly developed meibographic technique was investigated, and it was found that approximately 30% to 50% of the wearers report dry eye symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Japanese version of the National Cancer Institute’s patient-reported outcomes version of the common terminology criteria for adverse events (PRO-CTCAE): psychometric validation and discordance between clinician and patient assessments of adverse events
Takashi Kawaguchi,Kanako Azuma,Motohiko Sano,Soan Kim,Yosuke Kawahara,Yoko Sano,Tomohide Shimodaira,Keiichiro Ishibashi,Tempei Miyaji,Ethan Basch,Takuhiro Yamaguchi +10 more
TL;DR: There is underestimation in the assessment of adverse events in Japan, and that the Japanese version of the PRO-CTCAE had acceptable reliability and validity for common and clinically important symptoms.
