Journal ArticleDOI
Energy increase in multi-MeV ion acceleration in the interaction of a short pulse laser with a cluster-gas target.
Yuji Fukuda,A. Ya. Faenov,Motonobu Tampo,Tatiana Pikuz,Tatsufumi Nakamura,Masaki Kando,Yukio Hayashi,Akifumi Yogo,Hironao Sakaki,Takashi Kameshima,Alexander S. Pirozhkov,Koichi Ogura,Michiyasu Mori,T. Zh. Esirkepov,James Koga,A. S. Boldarev,Vladimir A. Gasilov,A. I. Magunov,Tomoya Yamauchi,R. Kodama,Paul R. Bolton,Yoshiaki Kato,Toshiki Tajima,Hiroyuki Daido,Sergei V. Bulanov,Sergei V. Bulanov +25 more
TL;DR: It is inferred from a particle-in-cell simulation that the high energy ions are generated at the rear side of the target due to the formation of a strong dipole vortex structure in subcritical density plasmas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhancement of photon number reflected by the relativistic flying mirror.
Masaki Kando,Alexander S. Pirozhkov,K. Kawase,T. Zh. Esirkepov,Yuji Fukuda,Hiromitsu Kiriyama,Hajime Okada,Izuru Daito,Takashi Kameshima,Yukio Hayashi,Hideyuki Kotaki,Michiyasu Mori,James Koga,Hiroyuki Daido,A. Ya. Faenov,Tatiana Pikuz,Jinglong Ma,Liming Chen,E. N. Ragozin,Tetsuya Kawachi,Yoshiaki Kato,Toshiki Tajima,Sergei V. Bulanov +22 more
TL;DR: The demonstrated flying mirror reflectivity is close to the theoretical estimate for the parameters of the experiment, and the counterpropagating laser pulse is reflected and upshifted in frequency with a multiplication factor of 37-66, corresponding to the extreme ultraviolet wavelength.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acceleration of highly charged GeV Fe ions from a low-Z substrate by intense femtosecond laser
Mamiko Nishiuchi,Hironao Sakaki,T. Zh. Esirkepov,Katsuhisa Nishio,Tatiana Pikuz,Tatiana Pikuz,Tatiana Pikuz,A. Ya. Faenov,A. Ya. Faenov,A. Ya. Faenov,I. Yu. Skobelev,I. Yu. Skobelev,R. Orlandi,Hiroyuki Sako,Alexander S. Pirozhkov,K. Matsukawa,K. Matsukawa,Akito Sagisaka,Koichi Ogura,Masato Kanasaki,Masato Kanasaki,Hiromitsu Kiriyama,Yuji Fukuda,Hiroyuki Koura,Masaki Kando,Tomoya Yamauchi,Yukinobu Watanabe,S. V. Bulanov,Kotaro Kondo,Kenichi Imai,S. Nagamiya +30 more
TL;DR: In this article, almost fully stripped Fe ions accelerated up to 0.9 GeV were demonstrated with a 200 TW femtosecond high-intensity laser irradiating a micron-thick Al foil with Fe impurity on the surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toward a full optimization of a highly saturated soft-X-ray laser beam produced in extremely long capillary discharge amplifiers
Giuseppe Tomassetti,Antonio Ritucci,A. Reale,Libero Palladino,Lucia Reale,S.V. Kukhlevsky,Francesco Flora,Luca Mezi,Anatoly Ya. Faenov,Tatiana Pikuz,A. Gaudieri +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported a substantial improvement of the output characteristics of a single-pass 46.9 nm Ne-like Ar soft-X-ray laser obtained by increasing the length of laser amplifier from 20 up to 45 cm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Submicrometer-resolution in situ imaging of the focus pattern of a soft x-ray laser by color center formation in LiF crystal.
A. Ya. Faenov,Yoshiaki Kato,Momoko Tanaka,Tatiana Pikuz,Maki Kishimoto,Masahiko Ishino,Masaharu Nishikino,Yuji Fukuda,Sergei V. Bulanov,Tetsuya Kawachi +9 more
TL;DR: High quality, single-shot in situ imaging of the focused Ag x-ray laser (XRL) at 13.9 nm with 700 nm spatial resolution by color center formation in LiF is demonstrated.
