TL;DR: In this paper, a rotating machine is designed to carry on two reverse operations- motor and generator-and a continuously variable transmission is provided for changing the number of rotations transmitted from the second rotating shaft to the rotating machine.
Abstract: A starter generator has an electric rotating machine having a rotating shaft. The rotating machine is designed to carry on two reverse operations- motor and generator. A first clutch is connected between the rotating machine and the first rotating shaft for transmitting rotations of the rotating machine to the first rotating shaft. A second clutch is connected between the rotating machine and the second rotating shaft for transmitting rotations of the second rotating shaft to the rotating machine. A continuously variable transmission is provided for changing the number of rotations transmitted from the second rotating shaft to the rotating machine. A control is designed to carry our first and second modes. In the first mode, the rotating machine is supplied with electric power to rotate the rotating shaft and thereby rotations of the rotating shaft are transmitted through the first clutch to the first rotating shaft. In the second mode, the number of rotations of the rotating shaft of the rotating machine is kept constant by controlling a transmission ratio of the continuously variable transmission.

TL;DR: In this paper, a speed change control method of a continuously variable transmission mechanism, including a traction continuous variable transmission, is presented. But the speed change ratio of the system is not considered.
Abstract: A speed change control method of controlling a speed change ratio of a continuously variable transmission mechanism including a traction continuously variable transmission, includes: estimating a tilt angle of a power roller included in the continuously variable transmission based on an input rotating speed and an output rotating speed of the continuously-variable transmission mechanism; estimating a position of the power roller based on an estimated tilt angle obtained by the tilt angle estimating step and a command signal given to a driving device of adjusting the tilt angle of the power roller; and executing a feedback control operation based on an estimated position of the power roller obtained by the position estimating step.

TL;DR: In this article, a rotational motion sensor is attached to the output shaft of a power tool to determine the user-imparted rotational motions of the power tool with respect to the longitudinal axis.
Abstract: A power tool includes an output shaft configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis, a motor drivably connected to the output shaft to impart rotary motions thereto, and a rotational motion sensor spatially separated from the output shaft and operable to determine the user-imparted rotational motion of the power tool with respect to the longitudinal axis. A controller is electrically connected to the rotational motion sensor and the motor. The controller determines angular velocity of the power tool about the axis, rotational displacement of the power tool about the axis, and/or a direction of the rotational displacement using input from the rotational motion sensor. The controller then controls the motor according to the angular velocity, the rotational displacement, and/or the direction of the rotational displacement.

TL;DR: In this paper, a rotational motion sensor in a power tool is used to detect the rotation of the power tool about an axis, and a controller receives a signal indicative of rotational motions from the sensor, determines a direction of the rotational movement of the housing, and drives the motor in a direction corresponding to the direction of rotation.
Abstract: A power tool includes a housing, a motor, an output member driven by the motor, and a reaming attachment coupled to the output member. The reaming attachment has a front end portion selectively driven in rotation by the output member to drive a fastener into a workpiece, and a reaming portion selectively driven in rotation by the output member to remove material from an end surface of a conduit. A rotational motion sensor in the housing is operable to detect rotational motion of the housing about an axis. A controller receives a signal indicative of rotational motion from the sensor, determines a direction of the rotational motion of the housing, and drives the motor in a direction corresponding to the direction of rotational motion of the housing.

TL;DR: In this paper, a rotational rate sensor has been used in a power tool to detect lateral displacement of the resonating mass and generate a signal indicative of the detected lateral displacement, such that the lateral displacement is directly proportional to the rotational speed at which the power tool rotates about an axis of the rotary shaft.
Abstract: A control system is provided for use in a power tool The control system includes: a rotational rate sensor having a resonating mass and a controller electrically connected to the rotational rate sensor The rotational rate sensor detects lateral displacement of the resonating mass and generates a signal indicative of the detected lateral displacement, such that the lateral displacement is directly proportional to a rotational speed at which the power tool rotates about an axis of the rotary shaft Based on the generated signal, the controller initiates a protective operation to avoid further undesirable rotation of the power tool The controller may opt to reduce the torque applied to shaft to a non-zero value that enables the operator to regain control of the tool

TL;DR: In this article, an engine power extraction control system is used to control the main propulsion engines and the electrical machines that are coupled to supply an appropriate amount of aircraft thrust and electrical energy to the aircraft.
Abstract: An engine power extraction control system controls the main propulsion engines and the electrical machines that are coupled thereto to supply an appropriate amount of aircraft thrust and electrical energy to the aircraft. The engines and electrical machines are also controlled so that the propulsion thrust that is generated is split between the various turbines in the main propulsion engines to maintain an adequate surge margin and to minimize residual thrust generation.
