Risk of HIV transmission through condomless sex in serodifferent gay couples with the HIV-positive partner taking suppressive antiretroviral therapy (PARTNER): final results of a multicentre, prospective, observational study

- 15 Jun 2019 -
TL;DR: The results suggest that the risk of HIV transmission in gay couples through condomless sex when HIV viral load is suppressed is effectively zero, which supports the message of the U=U (undetectable equals untransmittable) campaign, and the benefits of early testing and treatment for HIV.
Journal ArticleDOI

One-pill once-a-day HAART: A simplification strategy that improves adherence and quality of life of HIV-infected subjects

TL;DR: By substituting a one-pill once-a-day HAART for HIV-infected patients on highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), an improvement of both adherence and QoL is observed while maintaining high virologic and immunologic efficacy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical outcome and predictive factors of failure of highly active antiretroviral therapy in antiretroviral-experienced patients in advanced stages of HIV-1 infection.

TL;DR: HAART was effective in 70% of patients; low compliance and previous AIDS diagnosis represented predictive factors of therapy failure; the best virological outcome occurred in IDV-treated patients, with 68.4% of Patients showing undetectable HIV RNA copies after 6 months.
Journal ArticleDOI

Potential predictive factors of osteoporosis in HIV-positive subjects.

TL;DR: Traditional risk factors are predictive of osteopenia/osteoporosis also in HIV-subjects; the association with higher HIV-RNA levels can suggest a direct role of HIV itself in the occurrence of bone disease.
