TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the zeroth coefficient of the cables of the HOMFLY polynomial does not distinguish mutants, and that the same cable coefficient is not sufficient to distinguish mutants.
Abstract: We show that the zeroth coefficient of the cables of the HOMFLY polynomial (colored HOMFLY polynomials) does not distinguish mutants. This makes a sharp contrast with the total HOMFLY polynomial whose 3-cables can distinguish mutants.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that all Vassiliev knot invariants of order ≤ 4 are determined by the cable Γ-polynomials, where Γ is the common zeroth coefficient polynomial of the HOMFLYPT and Kauffman polynomials.
