TL;DR: The impact of reform techniques on schools is directly related to the deeply held assumptions and patterns of behavior which underlie life in school as mentioned in this paper, and the resiliency of institutional patterns to change efforts.
Abstract: technologies used in institutional contexts. The actual impact of these reform techniques upon schools is directly related to the deeply held assumptions and patterns of behavior which underlie life in school. The second section explores the concept of institution and effect that this has on the learning that takes place within the school. This discussion looks closely at three specific characteristics of the school as institution and how these work against the intent of schooling and efforts to reform. The final section focuses on the resiliency of institutional patterns to change efforts.
