TL;DR: The rate-reducing effects of psychomotor stimulants might arise in part as a consequence of the high rates of control responding in the hyperactive child, rather than from a unique “paradoxical” response.

TL;DR: During extinction, the rats with noradrenaline depletion showed greater resistance to extinction in terms of time to reach an extinction criterion of no response for 2 consecutive min, and no change in the degree of conditioned reinforcing value obtained by either initially neutral stimulus (light flash or auditory click) was seen.

TL;DR: Bilateral 6-hydroxydopamine lesions of the nucleus accumbens septi and olfactory tubercle reduced locomotor activity and changes in consummatory behavior that suggest a role for the mesolimbic dopamine system in switching from one behavioral activity to another.
Abstract: Bilateral 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) lesions of the nucleus accumbens septi and olfactory tubercle (NAS/OT) reduced locomotor activity in daily 30-min sessions. These reductions were accompanied by changes in consummatory behavior that suggest a role for the mesolimbic dopamine system in switching from one behavioral activity to another.
