Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometry of Iodine Pentoxide–Iodic Acid Hybrid Cluster Anions in Dry and Humidified Atmospheres
Lauri Ahonen,Chenxi Li,Chenxi Li,Jakub Kubečka,Siddharth Iyer,Hanna Vehkamäki,Tuukka Petäjä,Markku Kulmala,Christopher J. Hogan +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that (I2O5) x(HIO3) y(IOα)- clusters are relatively stable against dissociation during mass spectrometric measurement, as compared to other clusters observed in nucleation events over continental sites, and that at atmospherically relevant relative humidity levels clusters can become sufficiently hydrated to facilitate complete conversion of iodine pentoxide to iodic acid.
Journal ArticleDOI
Size-resolved particle number emissions in Beijing determined from measured particle size distributions
Jenni Kontkanen,Jenni Kontkanen,Chenjuan Deng,Yueyun Fu,Lubna Dada,Ying Zhou,Jing Cai,Kaspar R. Daellenbach,Simo Hakala,Tom V. Kokkonen,Tom V. Kokkonen,Zhuohui Lin,Yongchun Liu,Yonghong Wang,Chao Yan,Chao Yan,Tuukka Petäjä,Jingkun Jiang,Markku Kulmala,Markku Kulmala,Pauli Paasonen,Pauli Paasonen +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for determining size-resolved particle number emissions, based on measured particle size distribution, is introduced. But the method is not suitable for large numbers of particles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial-temporal variations of particle number concentrations between a busy street and the urban background
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured particle total number concentrations (PNC) continuously in a busy street and an urban background site for six months, using condensation particle counters (CPC), and evaluated the effects of temperature, wind speed and wind direction on PNC, as well as the correlation between PNC and PM2.5, PM10 and black carbon (BC).
Journal ArticleDOI
Prescribed burning of logging slash in the boreal forest of Finland: emissions and effects on meteorological quantities and soil properties
Aki Virkkula,Aki Virkkula,Janne Levula,Toivo Pohja,P. P. Aalto,Petri Keronen,Siegfried Schobesberger,Craig B. Clements,Liisa Pirjola,A. J. Kieloaho,Liisa Kulmala,Hermanni Aaltonen,Hermanni Aaltonen,Johanna Patokoski,Jukka Pumpanen,Janne Rinne,Taina Ruuskanen,Mari Pihlatie,Hanna E. Manninen,V. Aaltonen,Heikki Junninen,Tuukka Petäjä,John Backman,M. Dal Maso,Tuomo Nieminen,Taru Olsson,Tiia Grönholm,Juho Aalto,Timo H. Virtanen,Maija Kajos,V.-M. Kerminen,David M. Schultz,David M. Schultz,David M. Schultz,Jaakko Kukkonen,Mikhail Sofiev,G. de Leeuw,G. de Leeuw,Jaana Bäck,Pertti Hari,Markku Kulmala +40 more
TL;DR: In this article, a prescribed fire experiment was conducted on 26 June 2009 in Hyytiala, Finland, to study aerosol and trace gas emissions from prescribed fires of slash fuels and the effects of fire on soil properties in a controlled environment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Formation and growth of atmospheric nanoparticles in the eastern Mediterranean: results from long-term measurements and process simulations
Nikos Kalivitis,Veli-Matti Kerminen,Giorgos Kouvarakis,Iasonas Stavroulas,Iasonas Stavroulas,Evaggelia Tzitzikalaki,Panayiotis Kalkavouras,Nikos Daskalakis,Nikos Daskalakis,Stelios Myriokefalitakis,Aikaterini Bougiatioti,Hanna Elina Manninen,Hanna Elina Manninen,Pontus Roldin,Tuukka Petäjä,Michael Boy,Markku Kulmala,Maria Kanakidou,Nikolaos Mihalopoulos +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the longest time series of Atmospheric New Particle Formation (NPF) records in the eastern Mediterranean region by analyzing 10 years of aerosol number size distribution data obtained with a mobility particle sizer.
