Synergistic HNO3–H2SO4–NH3 upper tropospheric particle formation

TL;DR: In this paper , it was shown that ammonium and ammonium nitrate can be efficiently convected aloft during the Asian monsoon, driving rapid, multi-acid HNO3-H2SO4-NH3 nucleation in the upper troposphere and producing ice nucleating particles that spread across the mid-latitude Northern Hemisphere.
Journal ArticleDOI

A central arctic extreme aerosol event triggered by a warm air-mass intrusion

TL;DR: In this article , a year-long expedition in the remote central Arctic Ocean, a record-breaking increase in temperature, moisture and downwelling-longwave radiation was observed in mid-April 2020, during an air-mass intrusion carrying air pollutants from northern Eurasia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of a high-resolution supercritical differential mobility analyzer at reduced flow rates

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors classify sub-3'nm particles effectively with relatively high penetration efficiencies and sizing resolutions for atmospheric new particle formation studies, and propose a high-resolution superc...
