Journal ArticleDOI

Diagnostic and Prognostic Value of Absence of Coronary Artery Calcification

TL;DR: It is concluded that the absence of CAC is associated with a very low risk of future cardiovascular events, with modest incremental value of other diagnostic tests in this very low-risk group.
Journal ArticleDOI

European society of cardiology-recommended coronary artery disease consortium pretest probability scores more accurately predict obstructive coronary disease and cardiovascular events than the diamond and forrester score

TL;DR: Among contemporary patients referred for noninvasive testing, the DF risk score overestimates the risk of obstructive CAD; on the other hand, the CAD consortium scores offered improved goodness of fit and discrimination; thus, their use could decrease the need for non invasive or invasive testing while increasing the yield of such tests.
Journal ArticleDOI

Positron emission tomography measurement of periodontal 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose uptake is associated with histologically determined carotid plaque inflammation.

TL;DR: FDG-PET measurements of metabolic activity withinperiodontal tissue correlate with macrophage infiltration within carotid plaques, providing direct evidence for an association between periodontal disease and atherosclerotic inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Moderate‐to‐Vigorous Physical Activity With Accelerometry is Associated With Visceral Adipose Tissue in Adults

TL;DR: MVPA was associated with less VAT and SAT and better fat quality, even after adjustment for SAT volume, and similar findings were observed in men but the magnitude of the association was less.
Journal ArticleDOI

Current Evidence and Recommendations for Coronary CTA First in Evaluation of Stable Coronary Artery Disease.

TL;DR: In the United States, functional imaging is the most commonly used method to diagnose potentially obstructive coronary artery disease in patients with stable chest pain, but evidence from several contemporary randomized clinical trials may advocate a new paradigm of imaging for detecting CAD.
