TL;DR: It is shown that WS2 and MoS2 effectively reinforce polymers, whereas WS2/carbon nanotube hybrid films have high conductivity, leading to promising thermoelectric properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Small but strong: A review of the mechanical properties of carbon nanotube–polymer composites
TL;DR: In this article, a review of the progress to date in the field of mechanical reinforcement of polymers using nanotubes is presented, and the most promising processing methods for mechanical reinforcement are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scalable production of large quantities of defect-free few-layer graphene by shear exfoliation in liquids
Keith R. Paton,Eswaraiah Varrla,Claudia Backes,Ronan J. Smith,Umar Khan,Arlene O’Neill,Conor S. Boland,Mustafa Lotya,Oana M. Istrate,Paul J. King,Thomas M. Higgins,Sebastian Barwich,Peter M. Pennycook,Clive Downing,Alison Crossley,Valeria Nicolosi,Jonathan N. Coleman +28 more
TL;DR: It is shown that high-shear mixing of graphite in suitable stabilizing liquids results in large-scale exfoliation to give dispersions of graphene nanosheets in liquid volumes from hundreds of millilitres up to hundreds of litres and beyond.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanical Reinforcement of Polymers Using Carbon Nanotubes
TL;DR: A review of the progress in the area of mechanical reinforcement of polymers using carbon nanotubes can be found in this paper, where the main methods described in the literature to produce and process polymer-nanotube composites are considered and analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large-scale exfoliation of inorganic layered compounds in aqueous surfactant solutions
Ronan J. Smith,Paul J. King,Mustafa Lotya,Christian Wirtz,Umar Khan,Sukanta De,Arlene O’Neill,Georg S. Duesberg,Jaime C. Grunlan,Gregory P. Moriarty,Jun Chen,Jiazhao Wang,Andrew I. Minett,Valeria Nicolosi,Jonathan N. Coleman +14 more
TL;DR: This book aims to provide a history of Tibet and its people from 1989 to 2002, a period chosen in order to explore its roots as well as specific cases up to and including the year in which descriptions of Tibetans in the region began to circulate.
