Liquid Biopsy for Advanced NSCLC: A Consensus Statement From the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer
Christian Rolfo,Philip C. Mack,Giorgio V. Scagliotti,Charu Aggarwal,Maria E. Arcila,Fabrice Barlesi,Fabrice Barlesi,Trever G. Bivona,Maximilian Diehn,Caroline Dive,Rafal Dziadziuszko,Natasha B. Leighl,Umberto Malapelle,Tony Mok,Nir Peled,Luis E. Raez,Lecia V. Sequist,Lynette M. Sholl,Charles Swanton,Charles Swanton,Christopher Abbosh,Daniel Tan,Heather A. Wakelee,Ignacio I. Wistuba,Rebecca Bunn,Janet Freeman-Daily,M. Wynes,Chandra P. Belani,Tetsuya Mitsudomi,David R. Gandara +29 more
TL;DR: The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) liquid biopsy statement as mentioned in this paper revisited the role of liquid-biopsy in therapeutic decision-making in a recent workshop in October 2020 and the question of "plasma first" versus "tissue first" approach toward molecular testing for advanced NSCLC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Profile of the Roche cobas® EGFR mutation test v2 for non-small cell lung cancer
Umberto Malapelle,Rafael Sirera,Eloisa Jantus-Lewintre,Pablo Reclusa,Silvia Calabuig-Fariñas,Ana Blasco,Pasquale Pisapia,Christian Rolfo,Carlos Camps +8 more
TL;DR: The Roche cobas® EGFR mutation test v2, based on real time RT-PCR, is a reliable option for testing EGFR mutations in clinical practice, either using tissue-derived DNA or plasma-derived cfDNA, and will be valuable for laboratories with whose purpose is purely diagnostic and lacking high-throughput technologies.
Journal ArticleDOI
CBX7 is a tumor suppressor in mice and humans
Floriana Forzati,Antonella Federico,Pierlorenzo Pallante,Adele Abbate,Francesco Esposito,Umberto Malapelle,Romina Sepe,Giuseppe Palma,Giancarlo Troncone,Marzia Scarfò,Claudio Arra,Monica Fedele,Alfredo Fusco +12 more
TL;DR: It is found that the lack of CBX7 protein expression in human lung carcinomas correlated with CCNE1 overexpression, which suggests that CBx7 is a tumor suppressor and that its loss plays a key role in the pathogenesis of cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a gene panel for next-generation sequencing of clinically relevant mutations in cell-free DNA from cancer patients
Umberto Malapelle,Clara Mayo de-las-Casas,Danilo Rocco,Mónica Garzón,Pasquale Pisapia,Núria Jordana-Ariza,Maria Giovanna Russo,Roberta Sgariglia,Caterina De Luca,Francesco Pepe,Alejandro Martinez-Bueno,Daniela Morales-Espinosa,Maria Gonzalez-Cao,Niki Karachaliou,Santiago Viteri Ramirez,Claudio Bellevicine,Miguel Angel Molina-Vila,Rafael Rosell,Giancarlo Troncone +18 more
TL;DR: A panel to use in ultra-deep sequencing to identify mutated alleles in cfDNA involved in non-small-cell lung cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumour, colorectal carcinoma and melanoma and a feasible NGS panel for cfDNA analysis in clinical practice is developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
SMO gene amplification and activation of the hedgehog pathway as novel mechanisms of resistance to anti-epidermal growth factor receptor drugs in human lung cancer
Carminia Maria Della Corte,Claudio Bellevicine,Giovanni Vicidomini,Donata Vitagliano,Umberto Malapelle,Marina Accardo,Alessio Fabozzi,Alfonso Fiorelli,Morena Fasano,Federica Papaccio,Erika Martinelli,Teresa Troiani,Giancarlo Troncone,Mario Santini,Roberto Bianco,Fortunato Ciardiello,Floriana Morgillo +16 more
TL;DR: The role of the Hh pathway in mediating resistance to anti-EGFR-TKIs through the induction of EMT is supported and suggests new opportunities to design new treatment strategies in lung cancer.
