TL;DR: The purpose of integrating Web 2.0 tool, Glogster in language learning tasks and activities which would help in fostering creativity and autonomy in the teaching-learning process are reported.
Abstract: This paper reports the purpose of integrating Web 2.0 tool, Glogster in language learning tasks. Web 2.0 tools and digital blooms taxonomy have become prevalent in the English classroom with the ubiquitous use of smartphone, tabs and laptops in the language classroom. Certain details in this paper were presented in the Connecting Online (CO12) session in the year 2012. This paper also describes activities which would help in fostering creativity and autonomy in the teaching-learning process. Glogster is a web 2.0 tool which provides a platform for teachers and learners in creating and using glogs for language learning and other subjects. This tool provides a supportive platform for monitoring project based language learning activities. Having studied the use of the glog for language learning with the first batch of 54 students in 2009, in the following semesters 302 students were introduced to the glogging task. In total, 356 B.Tech students at VIT were introduced to web 2.0 tools for language learning tasks. They were introduced to the use of three Glogster tasks for synthesizing their real life and virtual language learning experiences in different semesters.

TL;DR: This paper reviews the literature on the studies on immediate feedback in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and develops discussion various advantages of the possibilities of immediate feedback from computer and technology in education.
Abstract: The role of computer and technology in education is a subject which still shows a lot of scope for further exploration. Out of myriad possibilities that computer offer, the advantage of immediate feedback that it provides, forms the center of discussion in this paper. The paper puts forth certain research questions such as how the provision of immediate feedback works amongst the language learners and what its advantages are over traditional corrective feedback. The answers to these questions are sought through integrated cross sectional literature review which is very much related to this subject and is potent enough to provide explanation to these questions. This paper reviews the literature on the studies on immediate feedback in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL).Technology and Computer based learning is all pervasive in language education for its quick response. The use of feedback through computers being significant, it is necessary to look at how immediate feedback has been effectively used in the past two decades. The paper further develops discussion various advantages of the possibilities of immediate feedback from computer and technology in education.

TL;DR: In this paper , a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design was conducted to explore how students utilize gaming technology to increase their critical reading and critical thinking skills while playing.
Abstract: Game technology has recently attracted a lot of attention and provides a favourable environment for language learning students who want to improve their English communicative abilities. The purpose of this article is to explore how students utilize gaming technology to increase their critical reading and critical thinking skills while playing. This research is a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. Students at the tertiary level are the participants in this study. Choice of the Dragon was a fantasy text-based game used in the experiment. A storyline from the game was transcribed into scripts and distributed to students for the pre-test. The game was introduced with the goal of gaining points on the achievement chart. In the end, the game will display an achievement chart. It encourages the students to continue the gameplay and read intensively until they reach their goal. Google Form was used to collect data for the research. The collected data was analysed with the help of a statistical tool. Students’ critical reading and critical thinking skills have increased significantly due to the intervention of the fantasy text-based game.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined the influence of metacognitive reading strategies in developing the reading comprehension skills among ESL learners with the psychosomatic condition, and the results of the present study were indicative that there is a significant improvement in the learners' reading comprehension skill due to the intervention of met-acognition reading strategies.
Abstract: The study examines the influence of metacognitive reading strategies in developing the reading comprehension skills among ESL (English as Second Language) learners with the psychosomatic condition. Qualitative and quantitative research was used in the present study and it was an experimental study. Reading comprehension skill is crucial to language learners for effective decoding of the information. Metacognitive reading strategies aid the learners to develop reading strategies for effective comprehension of the text. The metacognitive strategies like pragmatic and analytical strategies were used in this research to improve the intensive and evaluative reading comprehension skills. The participants of the study are a hundred and twelve (Male and Female) tertiary level ESL learners from the undergraduate engineering program. The experiment intends to improve the reading comprehension skills among the samples with psychosomatic conditions. The sampling method used in the study was purposive sampling. Data collection tools like questionnaires, pre-test, post-test, and post-feedback questionnaires were used in the study. An android-based application will be created with the activities and instructional materials and it was circulated to the learners. Metacognitive reading activities were given to the learners through the application and data was collected. Results were quantitatively analyzed using statistical tools from the data collected through the application. The results of the present study were indicative that there is a significant improvement in the learners’ reading comprehension skills due to the intervention of metacognitive reading strategies.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors attempted to investigate the podcast use in developing students' English skills, listening and speaking, and they found that the potential achievement in using technology affect both students and teachers, and teachers were also challenged to have an ability to integrate technology tool (such as Podcast ) to perform creative instruction in classroom setting.
Abstract: This study attempted to investigate the podcast use in developing students’ English skills, listening and speaking . Technology has produced prominent contribution on education in this information age. It is well known as Edu technology. Podcast is one of interactive media applied to support learning process in the classroom in developing listening and speaking skills. This study reviewed some previous research and designed teaching instruction using Podcast. The result of observation found that the potential achievement in using technology affect both students and teachers. Students moderately engage themselves to sharpen their English achievement; listening and speaking with technology experiences. They obtained various instruction and interesting learning atmosphere. Besides that, teacher was also challenged to have an ability to integrate technology tool (such as Podcast ) to perform creative instruction in classroom setting. Podcast provided tremendous topics and activities which make both teachers and students enrich their knowledge and develop their English skills in educational purposes.
