TL;DR: The combined clinimetric results of this study support the validity of the MDS‐UPDRS for rating PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative EEG as a predictive biomarker for Parkinson disease dementia
Bryan T. Klassen,J. G. Hentz,Holly A. Shill,Erika M Driver-Dunckley,V. G. H. Evidente,Marwan N. Sabbagh,Charles H. Adler,John N. Caviness +7 more
TL;DR: The QEEG measures of background rhythm frequency and relative power in the θ band are potential predictive biomarkers for dementia incidence in PD and may be useful in complementing neuropsychological testing for studying PD-D incidence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Both early and late cognitive dysfunction affects the electroencephalogram in Parkinson's disease
John N. Caviness,J. G. Hentz,V. G. H. Evidente,Erika M Driver-Dunckley,Johan Samanta,Padma R. Mahant,Donald J. Connor,Marwan N. Sabbagh,Holly A. Shill,Charles H. Adler +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that global EEG measures have potential use as biomarkers in the study of both early and late cognitive deterioration in PD, including for evaluating its treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Persistent chorea triggered by hyperglycemic crisis in diabetics.
J. Eric Ahlskog,Hiroshi Nishino,V. G. H. Evidente,John W. Tulloch,Glenn S. Forbes,John N. Caviness,Katrina Gwinn-Hardy +6 more
TL;DR: The chorea developed subacutely over 2 days to 1 month and was generalized in one, unilateral in three, and involved right > left lower extremity in the other; the severity initially reached ballistic proportions in two; the pathogenic mechanisms remain uncertain.
Journal ArticleDOI
No evidence for cognitive dysfunction or depression in patients with mild restless legs syndrome.
Erika Driver-Dunckley,Donald J. Connor,J. G. Hentz,Marwan N. Sabbagh,Nina Silverberg,Jose L. Hernandez,Linda Vedders,V. G. H. Evidente,Holly A. Shill,John N. Caviness,Charles H. Adler +10 more
TL;DR: It was showed that older individuals with mild RLS for at least 1 year do not have cognitive dysfunction and are not depressed compared with a control group of similar age and education.
