Abstract: The importance of natural resources in the life of society is shown. The necessity of accounting for reserves of all types of natural resources is justified. The data on the sphere of mineral development are given. The negative consequences of mining are reflected, which lead not only to the disappearance of important natural resources for humans, but also to the violation of the ecological situation. In addition, the structure of the Earth as a living organism is disrupted, which leads to changes in the groundwater level, sinkholes of the earth's surface, destruction of buildings, underground utilities and roads. At the same time, the coordinates of the points of the state geodetic network change significantly, which causes the overlap (intersection) of the boundaries of land plots by coordinates. The necessity of forming a cadastre of natural resources is substantiated, which will ensure strict accounting and rational use of all types of natural resources.
