Some time ago a physician-psychiatrist called me, very distressed and anxious about an acute form of schizophrenia which had attacked him. He stated that he was visiting friends in Saskatoon when this occurred, and that it had not cleared up this time as it had on two previous occasions. I arranged to see him late that afternoon. There was no doubt that he was suffering from a classical form of schizophrenia of rapid onset and required immediate relief from his distressing perceptual disorganization, thought disorder and depression. Admission to a hospital was out of the question for many reasons. I confirmed the doctor's self-diagnosis, advised him he had a very good prognosis and started him on the mega vitamin B3 program first described by Hoffer, Osmond, Callbeck and Kahan in 1957. This paper concerns the development of a Web-based learning programming interface that would assist students in acquiring programming skills. The current programming tools that are commonly used in application development do not prevent plagiarism and rote learning of previously written programs. An example of such a Web-based learning programming interface is presented and discussed in this paper. It can be adapted to meet learning needs and also provide additional features like the archiving of students’ solutions and their comparison for plagiarism detection.

Evaluation of Student Programming Assignments in Online Environments

As the research in sentiment analysis (SA) has reached the advanced level of maturity, scientific community is exploring possibilities of applying SA in different domains for which huge descriptive data is available. Researcher has developed tools for SA in commercial domains like feedback from customers, review rating of movie, political domains like exit poll prediction from tweets, etc. In medical science, huge data is available which can be used for predictive modelling. Psychomedical diagnosis is an interesting field which deals with exploring behavioural patterns to potential psychological problems. In the domain of medical science, little amount of work has been done in clinical SA. However, the efforts are at an elementary level in the course of research of SA for behavioural psychology. Hence, there is an opportunity of applying SA as the first step towards automatic psychomedical diagnosis of teenagers’ behaviour patterns.

A review on sentiment analysis in psychomedical diagnosis

Higher education institutions must prepare students from health, social, and teacher education programs for interprofessional collaboration (IPC) among children and young people with challenging childhood experiences. We wanted to explore if digital small group rooms, breakout rooms, are feasible for students to learn about, from, and with each other in an interprofessional learning (IPL) initiative, in order to practice IPC. This study is a repeated cross-sectional study from the academic years 2020/21 and 2021/22 with 5412 students. The students worked in student-led IPL groups with a case-based learning approach and limited interaction with supervisors. The youngest students agreed to a larger extent that they learned more about, from, and with other students. The teacher students were more positive towards discussing sensitive issues in breakout rooms than the health students. The health students agreed to a larger extent than the teacher students that breakout rooms were suited for pre-service IPC training. The results from this study indicate that breakout rooms provide a potential arena to practice generic skills. If properly organized and structured, breakout rooms can be an excellent learning resource. Breakout rooms provide a safe online environment for learning and practicing IPC, and for training on talking about sensitive issues.

Breakout Rooms Serve as a Suitable Tool for Interprofessional Pre-Service Online Training among Students within Health, Social, and Education Study Programs

AACP.com Annals of Clinical Psychiatry | Vol. 26 No. 4 | November 2014 303 ‘Clinician’s guides” and “manuals” have been mushrooming lately, and one may ask, even before starting to read this one, what could be interesting about yet another one. Well, first, this is a comprehensive guide focused on a difficult-to-treat disorder. Second, it is written by 2 well-known experts in the area of bipolar disorder, whose expertise encompasses research and vast clinical experience. Third, the authors present “a clinically useful integration of pharmacology and psychotherapy as the foundation for treatment” (p 6) because these 2 areas are reflective of their expertise (David Miklowitz, PhD, psychotherapy; Michael Gitlin, MD, psychopharmacology). The authors outline the objectives of the book in the first chapter, “An integrated approach to bipolar disorder.” Key themes of the book are: (1) “the treatment of bipolar disorder must be individualized in an ongoing collaboration with each patient” (p 3); (2) treatment is a moving target; “there is a need to continually reevaluate a patient’s situation—his symptoms, level of improvement, and functional capacity—such that treatment plans can be adjusted accordingly” (p 4); and (3) “family members are integral members of the treatment team.” The main structural feature of the book is that it is “organized by illness phases in which clinicians typically encounter patients with bipolar disorder, with both pharmacological and psychological advice to consider at every phase” (p 9). The authors base their recommendations for clinical diagnosis and treatment on research whenever possible—as we know, research results are not always available, especially from solid studies of maintenance treatment. The second chapter, “Bipolar disorder: The basics”, reviews the core symptomatology of bipolar disorder (mentioning that increased energy is a new core symptom in DSM-5), classification of bipolar disorder subtypes (emphasizing that in DSM-5, manic or hypomanic episodes that emerge during antidepressant treatment are considered a disorder only if a full manic/hypomanic syndrome persists beyond the physiological effect of the treatment); differential diagnosis of bipolar disorder (good discussion of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder vs bipolar disorder); genetics and natural history of the illness; impact of stress on the course of illness; and functional outcomes of patients with bipolar disorder. The authors point out that although bipolar disorder has a better long-term prognosis than schizophrenia, it is “a far more virulent disorder than the earlier caricature would suggest. Compared to those with no major psychiatric disorders, bipolar individuals have marked, long-term functional impairment. These impairments can be seen in all areas of functioning, including work, family interactions, self-reported quality of life, and social relationships” (p 34). The following chapter, “The intake evaluation” presents a solid outline and discussion of evaluating a patient with bipolar disorder. It emphasizes the importance of involving collateral informants in the diagnostic interview. Good features of this chapter include examples of interviews focused on obtaining various pieces of information. Chapter 4, “Treatment of acute mania and hypomania,” starts with the discussion of the clinical setting for treatment (hospitalization vs outpatient treatment). Clinician’s Guide to Bipolar Disorder: Integrating Pharmacology and Psychotherapy

In the current scenario, there is no computing system in practice which understands or provides analytical insights for the language used in the psychological documents maintained by psychiatrists. Most importantly, there is no standardized language or methodology used in psychiatric practice to diagnose a psychological disorder. The main aim of our system is to provide a standardized platform for an assistance in diagnosis using Natural Language Processing techniques and Sentiment Inference. The system would suggest to the psychiatrist, the psychological disorder identified and its severity from the document text. The severity is obtained via a gradient score, which is computed by the semantic based gradient processing module - the core of our research. The psychiatrist can approve/correct the system diagnosis if necessary and reassign the gradient values for phrases contributing towards disorder severity. In an automated process, model gets re-trained after a particular threshold is reached, continually improving its performance.

Intelligent AI Assisted Psychological Disorder Analysis Using Sentiment Inference

The challenge for teachers and students in online learning is active peer engagement. To encourage problem-based learning, online platforms allow the creation of breakout rooms. Breakout rooms are private chat rooms where small groups of 3-4 students discuss unique problem statements allocated to them and employ peer learning methods through interpersonal communication. Teachers or facilitators enrich the knowledge of the students in active learning sessions. This research paper dives deep into the benefits, drawbacks, and implications of breakout rooms in E-learning environments. It is a collective case study on the use of breakout rooms by students and facilitators at an elite engineering college in Maharashtra, India. The first-hand experience of undergraduate Computer Science students and their Database Management Systems teacher is being considered. Student recommendations on use of breakout rooms have been consolidated at the end of this paper. Through our analysis and encouraging statistics, we wish to advocate the use of breakout rooms to engage students, in online learning platforms. Enriching and Energizing the Virtual Classroom using Breakout Sessions: A better experience of Active Learning during Covid- 19 Pandemic.

Nowadays in educational institutions teachers provide problem statement to students and students submit their solution in accordance with problem statement provided. Online interactive educational system for submission and evaluation of programming assignments

Sign language recognition can help hearing and speech impaired persons to communicate with the rest of the world. Hand gesture recognition is widely used in the entertainment sector for cars, gaming, and other devices. In the healthcare industry, clinicians can utilise this recognition technique to handle digital images instead of touch screens or computer keyboards during medical procedures where sterilization is necessary, as well as to automatically recognise surgical gestures. For real-time, image-based hand gesture identification, recent improvements in machine learning and object detection approaches provide improved and more efficient results. We used the deep learning-based object detection models YOLOX and YOLOv5 to work on five different hand gestures for recognition in our research project. Both models were released at the same time, but YOLOX was significantly more precise and faster. For YOLOv5, we got the highest mAP score of 98%, the lowest mAP score of 89.6%, the precision score of 98.8%, and the recall score of 82.6%. Our best mAP for YOLOX was 99.55%, while our last mAP was 98.5%. In this research study, we evaluated the performance of the two models and investigated changes in the architecture that enabled YOLOX to perform so much better than YOLOv5.

Hand Gesture Recognition using YOLO Models for Hearing and Speech Impaired People

Using games for teaching-Learning include features that engage the learners. Gamified instruction builds learning for the better in many ways. First, it empowers students to be responsible for their learning. Well-designed games are particularly effective at keeping reluctant learners engaged because they keep the learner close to but not over their capacity threshold. Second, gamified methods help students maintain a skillful mindset when encountering new obstacles. Moreover finally, gamified instructional techniques build on the ways games boost a player to survive in the face of challenges to help students better overcome hurdles in their learning environment. Engagement of the students in teaching-learning activities plays an important role, but only engaging the students and fun are insufficient, or it could not be the aim. The accomplishment of learning objectives is significant. So games should also be associated with the skill to be evaluated, and evaluation patterns decided by the teacher. During or after the conduction of the game, the teacher should collect the pieces of evidence; must interpret them to get a value with a view to action.
