Journal ArticleDOI
Valence, spin, and orbital state of Co ions in one-dimensional Ca3Co2O6 : An x-ray absorption and magnetic circular dichroism study
T. Burnus,Zhiwei Hu,Maurits W. Haverkort,Julio C. Cezar,Delphine Flahaut,Vincent Hardy,A. Maignan,N. B. Brookes,Arata Tanaka,H. H. Hsieh,Hong-Ji Lin,C. T. Chen,Liu Hao Tjeng +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the valence, spin, and orbital state of the Co ions in the one-dimensional cobaltate Ca3Co2O6 were investigated using x-ray absorption and magnetic circular dichroism at the Co-L2,3 edges.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temperature and time dependence of the field-driven magnetization steps in Ca 3 Co 2 O 6 single crystals
Vincent Hardy,Martin R. Lees,Oleg Petrenko,D. McK. Paul,Delphine Flahaut,Sylvie Hébert,A. Maignan +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed investigation of the temperature and time dependence of the spin-chain features was carried out and it was found that some of the magnetization steps can disappear as the characteristic time of the measurement is increased.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strongly correlated properties of the thermoelectric cobalt oxide Ca 3 Co 4 O 9
P. Limelette,Vincent Hardy,Pascale Auban-Senzier,Denis Jérome,Delphine Flahaut,Sylvie Hébert,Raymond Frésard,Ch. Simon,Jacques G. Noudem,A. Maignan +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, in-plane resistivity, Hall effect, and specific heat measurements on the thermoelectric cobalt oxide were performed and four distinct transport regimes were found as a function of temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantum tunneling of the magnetization in the Ising chain compound Ca3Co2O6
Antoine Maignan,Vincent Hardy,Sylvie Hébert,M. Drillon,Martin R. Lees,Oleg Petrenko,D. McK. Paul,Daniel I. Khomskii +7 more
TL;DR: The first observation of quantum tunneling of the magnetization (QTM) in a magnetic oxide belonging to the large family of A3BB′O6 compounds is reported in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
High- and Low-Temperature Crystal and Magnetic Structures of ε-Fe2O3 and Their Correlation to Its Magnetic Properties
Martí Gich,Carlos Frontera,Anna Roig,E. Taboada,Elies Molins,H. R. Rechenberg,José D. Ardisson,Waldemar A. A. Macedo,Clemens Ritter,Vincent Hardy,Jordi Sort,Vassil Skumryev,J Nogués +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the crystal and magnetic structures of orthorhombic e-Fe2O3 have been studied by simultaneous Rietveld refinement of X-ray and neutron powder-diffraction data in combination with Mossbauer spectroscopy, as well as magnetization and heat capacity measurements.
