MABAC method for multiple attribute group decision making under q-rung orthopair fuzzy environment

This paper presents a new approach to the treatment of uncertainty and imprecision in multi-criteria decision-making based on interval rough numbers (IRN). The IRN-based approach provides decision-making using only internal knowledge for the data and operational information of a decision-maker. A new normalized weighted geometric Bonferroni mean operator is developed on the basis of the IRN for the aggregation of the IRN (IRNWGBM). Testing of the IRNWGBM operator is performed through the application in a hybrid IR-DEMATEL-COPRAS multi-criteria model which is tested on real case of selection of optimal direction for the creation of a temporary military route. The first part of hybrid model is the IRN DEMATEL model, which provides objective expert evaluation of criteria under the conditions of uncertainty and imprecision. In the second part of the model, the evaluation is carried out using the new interval rough COPRAS technique.

Making a decision in everyday life always comes with uncertainty and responsibility. To reduce the risk to a minumum and in order to make a right decision a person can use methods of multicriteria analysis in combination in fuzzy logic. A married couple, representing decision makers in this case study, have purchased an apartment and it needs to be completely refurbished including outside carpentry. Aim of this study is to select the most suitable manufacturer of PVC carpentry for apartment refurbishing. A total pool of 14 quantitative and qualitative criteria is used as a base for selection of the most suitable of seven available manufacturers. For this case study we will use one of newer methods of multicriteria analysis of fuzzy Evaluation Based on Distance from Average Solution (fuzzy EDAS) method. Having reached the results, an analysis of sensitivity has been conducted showing stability of results where manufacturer number 4 represents an optimal solution in 13 experimental sets out of 14 total.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5755/j01.ee.29.3.16818

This study aims to introduce a series of novel distance measures of an intuitionistic fuzzy set and an extended Multi-attributive Border Approximation Area Comparison method to address multi-criteria group decision-making problems. To aggregate the intuitionistic fuzzy information, we propose two aggregation operators, namely, the intuitionistic fuzzy Dombi generalised $$ \lambda $$-Shapley Choquet arithmetical average operator and intuitionistic fuzzy Dombi generalised $$ \lambda $$-Shapley Choquet geometric average operator. These aggregation operators consider the importance of combinations and correlations among combinations of input arguments. Furthermore, an illustrative example of a human resource management problem is presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, and sensitivity and comparison analyses are conducted to demonstrate the technique’s stability and advancements. Finally, conclusions are drawn.

An extended MABAC method for multi-criteria group decision-making problems based on correlative inputs of intuitionistic fuzzy information

The military decision-making process is a proven analytical process for designing operations, troops’ movements, logistics or air defense planning. The hybrid FAHP-MABAC model is tested for obtaining/selecting the results for an optimal firing position of the guided anti-tank missile battery (GAMB).This study provides a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model so that the confidence interval of fuzzy numbers describes the comparison in pairs whose degree is not determined before the comparison. By using mathematical expressions the confidence interval is brought into direct connection with the degree of certainty of decision-makers/expert of the comparison performed. In the group decision-making, the confidence intervals differ depending on the decision-maker/expert’s opinion. Finally the sensitivity analysis is used to determine how sensitive a decision model is. The suggested model is expected to contribute to the development of the science of military-operations as well as to prove itself useful to the actors related to defense.

Multi-criteria decision-making in A defensive operation of the guided anti-tank missile battery: An example of the hybrid model fuzzy AHP - MABAC

Introduction/purpose: The frequency hopping spread spectrum (FH-SS) technique assumes the carrier generated by the syntesizer to hop from frequency to frequency over a wide bandwidth, according to a pseudonoise code sequence defined by the code sequence generator. The article presents the history, principles and applications of the FH-SS technique. Both military and commercial applications are discussed. Methods: This article presents an overview of data from the technical literature, with appropriate comments. Results: After presenting the history and principles of the FH-SS technique, the article summarizes its use with examples of military and commercial applications. The importance of using FH-SS in the described applications is highlighted. Conclusion: The FH-SS technique has been successfully implemented in many military and commercial technologies due to its high protection against interference, making communication difficult for reconnaissance and eavesdropping, and its ability to provide code division multiple access.

Frequency hopping spread spectrum: History, principles and applications

The enlargement of the European Union has called for a reevaluation of the way the external borders to be protected as a necessary consequence of the free movement of people in the European Union. It also appears to be a result of a fundamental component of the area of freedom, security and justice. The abolition of the internal border checks and a different approach to external borders followed by emerging forms of cross-border crime with a cross-border dimension, illegal migration, trafficking in human beings and terrorist threats constantly being on the rise, have requested a different approach. The lack of economic perspective, poverty, environmental disasters and wars have forced people to look for a better life else where, which has led to the most important global phenomenon of the 21st century migration. Migration issues have made us think about the important matters faced by developed countries independently, and as such they are currently at the top of the European Union's political agenda. To respond effectively to emerging challenges and threats, the European Union has expedited the development of the integrated border management as a generally acceptable border management model, as well as a key factor in improving migration management. The paper is based on the information gathered from the open sources of the European Union institutions, as well as from personal experiences gained throughout the course of border management reform in Republic of Serbia.

The European model of the integrated border management

The paper proposes an objective image quality assessment measure with full referencing. The measure is based on a comparison of the contrast of the original image and the image with the degradation. Discrete cosine transform coefficients are used for contrast estimation. By applying the measure, a scalar value is obtained that reflects the quality of the test (degraded) image. The proposed measure is tested on an infrared image dataset developed by the Military Academy in Belgrade, Serbia. The performance of the measure was compared with other well-known objective full-reference image quality assessment metrics, which were developed for the images in visible domain. It was shown that measure performance can be improved with the adequate selections of the block dimensions and the number of discrete cosine transform coefficients during the calculation of image quality value. The proposed measure obtained a correlation with the subjective scores near 82%, which puts the measure into the top three of all tested image quality assessment measures. The proposed measure showed the best performance on the images distorted by Gaussian blurring, where the level of agreement with the subjective scores is over 97%, according to which the measure stands out as the best compared to other tested measures.
