Journal ArticleDOI

Purification and characterization of bovine and ovine submaxillary mucins.

TL;DR: The procedure of Tsuiki et al. for the isolation of bovine submaxillary mucin was modified but gave a product very similar to that reported earlier, and when applied to ovine sub maxillary glands, it gave a very similar product (OSM-T) with a somewhat simpler composition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serine and threonine glycosidic linkages in bovine submaxillary mucin.

TL;DR: Treatment of bovine submaxillary mucin with sodium borohydride caused an extensive conversion of serine to alanine and a small conversion of threonine to α-aminobutyric acid.
Journal ArticleDOI

The isolation and characterization of rat sublingual mucus-glycoprotein.

TL;DR: A purified glycoprotein was isolated from the rat sublingual gland by means of the procedure of Tettamanti and Pigman and shown to be homogeneous by analytical ultracentrifugation, and to contain 81 percent (W/W) of carbohydrate, which consists mainly of sialic acid, 2-acetamido-2-deocy-D-glucose, and D-galactose.
Journal ArticleDOI

Depolymerization of Hyaluronic Acid by Autoxidants and Radiations

TL;DR: The present work was carried out in order to compare the effects of radiation on hyaluronic acid with those produced by autoxidants under closely similar conditions.
