TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the first results on elliptic flow of charged particles at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at √(sNN) = 130 GeV using the STAR Time Projection Chamber at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider.
Abstract: Elliptic flow from nuclear collisions is a hadronic observable sensitive to the early stages of system evolution. We report first results on elliptic flow of charged particles at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at √(sNN) = 130 GeV using the STAR Time Projection Chamber at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The elliptic flow signal, v₂, averaged over transverse momentum, reaches values of about 6% for relatively peripheral collisions and decreases for the more central collisions. This can be interpreted as the observation of a higher degree of thermalization than at lower collision energies. Pseudorapidity and transverse momentum dependence of elliptic flow are also presented.

TL;DR: In this article, high-refractive-index trialkoxysilane-capped PMMA−titania hybrid optical thin films were prepared by an in situ sol−gel process, followed by spin-coating and multistep baking.
Abstract: High-refractive-index trialkoxysilane-capped PMMA−titania hybrid optical thin films were prepared by an in situ sol−gel process, followed by spin-coating and multistep baking. The acrylic monomers used were methyl methacrylate (MMA) and 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (MSMA). Titanium(IV) n-butoxide was used for the preparation of the titania network. By using catalyst-free polymerization and adjusting the solvent THF amount for polymerization, the titania content in the hybrid thin films can be as high as 70.7 wt %. The FTIR and DSC results indicate the successful bonding between the organic and inorganic moieties and the good dispersion of the PMMA segment in the titania network. The AFM study demonstrates that the prepared hybrid thin films have excellent planarization. The FE-SEM results suggest that the titania moieties in the prepared hybrid materials T10−T80 are on the nanosize scale. The dispersion of the refractive index and extinction coefficient in the wavelength range of 190−900 nm was ...

TL;DR: A novel ladder-type donor (IDTT) is developed by substituting the two outward thiophenes of the IDT donor with two thieno[3,2-b]thiophene, which improves electron delocalization along the polymer backbone and charge mobility.
Abstract: A novel ladder-type donor (IDTT) is developed by substituting the two outward thiophenes of the IDT donor with two thieno[3,2-b]thiophenes. The polymer derived from this donor possesses longer effective conjugation and better planarity, which improves electron delocalization along the polymer backbone and charge mobility. The polymer solar cell device using PIDTT-DFBT shows a high power conversion efficiency of 7.03% with a large open-circuit voltage of 0.95 V without using any additives or post-solvent/thermal annealing processes.

TL;DR: In this paper, a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) is presented.
Abstract: Deposits of clastic carbonate-dominated (calciclastic) sedimentary slope systems in the rock record have been identified mostly as linearly-consistent carbonate apron deposits, even though most ancient clastic carbonate slope deposits fit the submarine fan systems better. Calciclastic submarine fans are consequently rarely described and are poorly understood. Subsequently, very little is known especially in mud-dominated calciclastic submarine fan systems. Presented in this study are a sedimentological core and petrographic characterisation of samples from eleven boreholes from the Lower Carboniferous of Bowland Basin (Northwest England) that reveals a >250 m thick calciturbidite complex deposited in a calciclastic submarine fan setting. Seven facies are recognised from core and thin section characterisation and are grouped into three carbonate turbidite sequences. They include: 1) Calciturbidites, comprising mostly of highto low-density, wavy-laminated bioclast-rich facies; 2) low-density densite mudstones which are characterised by planar laminated and unlaminated muddominated facies; and 3) Calcidebrites which are muddy or hyper-concentrated debrisflow deposits occurring as poorly-sorted, chaotic, mud-supported floatstones. TL;DR: In this critical review, recent progress in the area ofAIE research is summarized and typical examples of AIE systems are discussed, from which their structure-property relationships are derived.
Abstract: Luminogenic materials with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) attributes have attracted much interest since the debut of the AIE concept in 2001. In this critical review, recent progress in the area of AIE research is summarized. Typical examples of AIE systems are discussed, from which their structure–property relationships are derived. Through mechanistic decipherment of the photophysical processes, structural design strategies for generating new AIE luminogens are developed. Technological, especially optoelectronic and biological, applications of the AIE systems are exemplified to illustrate how the novel AIE effect can be utilized for high-tech innovations (183 references).
