Journal ArticleDOI
Use of carotid ultrasound to identify subclinical vascular disease and evaluate cardiovascular disease risk: a consensus statement from the American Society of Echocardiography Carotid Intima-Media Thickness Task Force. Endorsed by the Society for Vascular Medicine.
James H. Stein,Claudia E. Korcarz,R. Todd Hurst,Eva Lonn,Christopher B. Kendall,Emile R. Mohler,Samer S. Najjar,Christopher M. Rembold,Wendy S. Post +8 more
TL;DR: This activity describes the rationale for using carotid ultrasound to identify subclinical vascular disease and to evaluate cardiovascular disease risk, and explains the key components of interpreting carOTid ultrasound studies for cardiovascular Disease risk assessment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of Cytochrome P450 2C19 Genotype With the Antiplatelet Effect and Clinical Efficacy of Clopidogrel Therapy
Alan R. Shuldiner,Jeffrey R. O'Connell,Kevin P. Bliden,Amish Gandhi,Kathleen A. Ryan,Richard B. Horenstein,Coleen M. Damcott,Ruth E. Pakyz,Udaya S. Tantry,Quince Gibson,Toni I. Pollin,Wendy S. Post,Afshin Parsa,Braxton D. Mitchell,Nauder Faraday,William R. Herzog,Paul A. Gurbel +16 more
TL;DR: CYP2C19*2 genotype was associated with diminished platelet response to clopidogrel treatment and poorer cardiovascular outcomes, and patients with the CYP2C 19*2 variant were more likely to have a cardiovascular ischemic event or death during 1 year of follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
ACCF/AHA 2007 Clinical Expert Consensus Document on Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring By Computed Tomography in Global Cardiovascular Risk Assessment and in Evaluation of Patients With Chest Pain
Philip Greenland,Robert O. Bonow,Bruce H. Brundage,Matthew J. Budoff,Mark J. Eisenberg,Scott M. Grundy,Michael S. Lauer,Wendy S. Post,Paolo Raggi,Rita F. Redberg,George P. Rodgers,Leslee J. Pohost,Richard S. Schofield,Samuel J. Shubrooks,James H. Stein,Cynthia M. Tracy,Robert A. Vogel,Deborah J. Wesley +28 more
TL;DR: The CAC Measurement Method helps clarify the role of risk assessment in Cardiovascular Medicine and current approaches to Global Risk Assessment and to match the intensity of intervention with the severity of risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
25-hydroxyvitamin D levels and the risk of mortality in the general population.
TL;DR: The lowest quartile of 25(OH)D level (<17.8 ng/mL) is independently associated with all-cause mortality in the general population, and the adjusted models of CVD and cancer mortality revealed a higher risk, which was not statistically significant.
Journal ArticleDOI
