TL;DR: Findings reveal that monitoring of mussel toxicity alone does not necessarily provide adequate warning of DA entering the food web at levels sufficient to harm marine wildlife and perhaps humans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in blubber distribution and morphology associated with starvation in the harbor porpoise (Phocoena phocoena): evidence for regional differences in blubber structure and function.
TL;DR: To examine patterns of blubber loss accompanying a decline in body condition,Blubber thickness of juvenile harbor porpoises in normal/robust body condition was compared with that of starved conspecifics to determine whether thickness changes were homogeneous throughout blubbers depth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Community structure in pelagic marine mammals at large spatial scales
Robert S. Schick,Patrick N. Halpin,Andrew J. Read,Dean L. Urban,Benjamin D. Best,Caroline P. Good,Jason J. Roberts,Erin LaBrecque,Charlotte Dunn,Lance P. Garrison,K. D. Hyrenbach,William A. McLellan,D. A. Pabst,Debra L. Palka,Peter T. Stevick +14 more
TL;DR: Results showed that when beaked whales were identified to the species level, they clustered out into distinct niches that are separate from those of other Odontocete groups, which add to an increasing understanding of wildlife habitat associations and niche partitionings in the community structure of pelagic species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution and abundance of beaked whales (Family Ziphiidae) Off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, U.S.A.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a survey of the state-of-the-art research work in the field of marine science and environmental sciences, including the work of Lynn E. E. Campbell, D. ANN PABST, and D. W. READ.
