Abstract: An attempt is made to determine whether operationalizing occupation as occupational class or as occupational prestige has more predictive power on income, attitudes toward inequality, political confidence, & political apathy. Empirical analyses employing each operationalization are described, indicating that class as well as prestige have unique effects on income. For the other dependent variables, however, class is the more important predictor. 3 Tables, 4 Appendixes, 26 References. Modified HA
