A survey of economic models in grid computing

Considering dynamic, heterogeneous and autonomous characteristics of computing resources in grid computing systems and the flexibility and effectivity of economics methods applied to solve the problem of resource management, a double auction mechanism for resource allocation on grid computing systems is presented. Firstly, a market model of double auction is described, in which agents are utilized to represent the computational resource traders in the grid environment and are equipped with the reinforcement learning algorithm. Secondly, a double auction mechanism is presented, where the uniform-price auction is adopted aiming at CPU resources, and the transaction fee can be adjusted flexibly. Finally, the efficiency of the presented double auction mechanism is analyzed through experiments, and experimental results show that the presented mechanism is efficient, and the transaction price varies mildly.

A double auction mechanism for resource allocation on grid computing systems

Although growth of renewable energy is envisaged, many concerns are critical like the ability to maintain the balance between demands and supply and the variability, noncontrollability, and flexibility of the sources. Then, what will be the future concerns about the main composition of intelligent power grid systems in the future? There is no such research tackled before. Thus, this paper first finds critical success criteria of intelligent power grid systems and then constructs a multiple criteria and decision making model to help in identifying the suitable trends under complex economic performance, environmental impacts, and rapid technological and marketing changes. After empirical demonstration, the paper summarizes that the most suitable composition of future intelligent power grid systems should be constituted by “DHT” P2P grid, “C&D workflow” P2P scheduling, “GARCM” trustworthy P2P grid, and “multipurpose” grid applications in the future.

A Fuzzy ANP Model Integrated with Benefits, Opportunities, Costs, and Risks to Prioritize Intelligent Power Grid Systems

In this paper, a MEMF, consisting of a MAS and a grid-tied Microgrid is proposed for trading and managing power in automated DNs In addition, the framework effectively utilizes DR potential by enabling customers to participate in multiple DR options The game theoretic analysis based double auction energy trading mechanism is modified, and is used in different DR options The control over DR participation is provided to the customers rather than to the aggregator A modification is proposed to the generally used incentive policy which assures more benefit to the customers In the proposed framework, both MAS and grid-tied microgrid DN are simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK The simulation results on the test system are presented for illustrating the effectiveness of the trading mechanism and the improvements in the benefits with respect to the earlier results in this field

Multi-Agent Based Responsive Residential DR for Managing and Trading Power in Smart Distribution Networks

Ranking fuzzy numbers plays a prominent role in management, engineering, and basic sciences. Fuzzy numbers are represented by a membership function, and despite the real numbers that can be linearly ordered, fuzzy numbers might overlap with each other; thus, their ordering seems impossible or very difficult. Varieties of methods have been proposed for ranking fuzzy numbers in the recent years. Due to nonintuitive and nondiscriminating results of these methods that cause inconsistency in outputs, generalization of them is limited and there are some extenuations associated with them. Some of the ranking methods use defuzzification methods, while others are based on themembership function ormetric distance methods. This issue’s papers study the following areas.

Ranking Fuzzy Numbers and Its Extensions

In order to achieve high performance of Grid computing, an efficient resource allocation protocol needs to be carefully chosen and applied. Using auction mechanism design theory, this paper designs a novel double auction mechanism which is appropriate for allocation of multi-unit homogenous and divisible resources in the Grid. In the Grid, there are multiple resource consumers and resource providers. Futhermore, various transaction-related costs will be incurred when a resource consumer trades with a resource provider. We prove that the mechanism not only can achieve incentive compatibility and individual rationality for risk-averse resource consumers and resource providers, but also can be weekly budget balance. The numeral results show that the mechanism achieves high efficiency.
