Formation of nanocrystalline β structure in metastable beta Ti alloy during high pressure torsion: The role played by stress induced martensitic transformation

TL;DR: In this paper, high pressure torsion was conducted to obtain nano-sized β grains in a metastable Ti-5553 alloy, and the more effective grain refinement was attributed to stress induced martensitic transformation in the former leading to the formation of thin α″ plates which divide β grains into smaller domains.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of W addition on the glass forming ability and mechanical properties of Fe-based metallic glass

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of refractory element W addition on the glass forming ability and mechanical properties of Fe47−xCr20Mo10WxC15B6Y2 alloys were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of sealing treatment on the corrosion resistance of Fe-based amorphous coatings in HCl solution

TL;DR: In this article, the morphology and microstructure of the gas-atomized powders, as-sprayed coating, and sealed coating were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical and functional properties of ultrafine grained Al wires reinforced by nano-Al2O3 particles

TL;DR: A powder metallurgy route based on high-energy ball milling, powder consolidation by hot extrusion and cold rolling was used to produce Al composite wires reinforced with Al2O3 nanoparticles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atomic-scale bonding of bulk metallic glass to crystalline aluminum

TL;DR: In this paper, a bulk metallic glass (BMG) was welded to a crystalline aluminum by the parallel plate explosive welding method, and the weldment on the BMG side can retain its amorphous state without any indication of crystallization.
