Supply chain management creates value for companies, customers and stakeholders interacting throughout a supply chain. The strategic dimension of supply chains makes it paramount that their performances are measured. In today’s performance evaluation processes, companies tend to refer to several models that will differ in terms of corporate organization, the distribution of responsibilities and supply chain maturity. The present article analyzes various models used to assess supply chains by highlighting their specific characteristics and applicability in different contexts. It also offers an analytical grid breaking these models down into seven layers. This grid will help managers evolve towards a model that is more suitable for their needs.

Study of Performance Measurement Practices in Supply Chain Management

Interest in the topic of supply chain performance measurement has notably increased in the last two decades and considerable research has been conducted in this area. The objective of this paper is not just to review the advancements in theory on supply chain performance measurement per se, but rather to provide a taxonomy with which research in the field can be mapped and evaluated. The need for a structured topological approach to the development of supply chain performance measurement frameworks and methods is addressed. Findings are based on the analysis of a huge number of publications including the most recent reviews conducted in the contemporary literature (books, theses, journal articles and conference papers). The researchers believe that currently existing supply chain performance measurement frameworks can be classified into nine different types grouped according to the key criteria of measurement. This research reveals that most of the already existing approaches are static, inflexible and lack continual improvement which constitutes a gap between the theory and their potential application. Thus, future contributions to the topic are essential and possible.

Purpose – Supply chain (SC) performance measurement – the process of qualifying the efficiency and effectiveness of the SC. The purpose of this paper is to create a SC measurement framework for manufacturing industry, define which data should be measured and verify the measurement framework in the case company’s SC. Empirical study of measuring supply chain performance

Supply chain is the process of continuous flow of products or services from source to the destination. Supply chain management has become an effective tool now a day to survive in this competitive world. Organizations do their best to harvest profits by adopting better supply chain management practices for competitive advantage and organizational performance. In this paper an attempt has been made to understand the relationship among supply chain practices, competitive advantage, and organizational performance using structural equation modelling. This research conceptualizes and develops five secondary dimensions of supply chain practices (Use of technology, SC speed, Customer satisfaction, SC integration, and Inventory management). The research also identifies four primary competitive advantage components (Inventory management, Customer satisfaction, Profitability, and Customer base identification) and six primary organizational performance components (Financial Performance, Market performance, SC competencies, Customer satisfaction, Stakeholder satisfaction, and Innovation and learning). The data for analysis was collected from top 10 non-livestock organized retail players operating in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, New Delhi and, Gurgaon in India. The relationships in the proposed framework were tested using structural equation modelling. The results indicate that Indian retailers know that competitive advantage has high impact on SCP but they have less understanding in matching SCP and competitive advantage with organizational performance.

Supply Chain Management Practices, Competitive Advantage and Organizational Performance: A Confirmatory Factor Model

Performance measurement can be defined as the process of quantifying the efficiency and effectiveness of organisations and actions. This paper postulates a comprehensive supply chain performance measurement approach which evaluates a supply chain both from structure and operational levels. The paper first elaborates on why supply chain should be evaluated from these two levels, and then performance indices used in structure and operational level evaluation are identified and related calculation model is proposed. The paper also discusses the relationships of the indices, and suggests that simulation could be applied to build supply chain models both on structure and process levels for evaluation purpose.
