Journal ArticleDOI

A novel tumor suppressor protein encoded by circular AKT3 RNA inhibits glioblastoma tumorigenicity by competing with active phosphoinositide-dependent Kinase-1

TL;DR: The data indicate that the impaired circRNA expression of the AKT3 gene contributes to GBM tumorigenesis, and corroborate the hypothesis that restoring AKt3-174aa while inhibiting activated AKT may provide more benefits for certain GBM patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Circular RNA-encoded oncogenic E-cadherin variant promotes glioblastoma tumorigenicity through activation of EGFR-STAT3 signalling.

TL;DR: In this paper, an undescribed secretory E-cadherin protein variant (C-E-Cad) encoded by a circular E-cell RNA through multiple-round open reading frame translation was found to activate EGFR in GBM and promote glioma stem cell tumorigenicity.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel protein encoded by circular SMO RNA is essential for Hedgehog signaling activation and glioblastoma tumorigenicity.

TL;DR: In this article, a novel protein SMO-193a.a. encoded by circular SMO (circ-SMO), which is essential for hedgehog signaling activation in glioblastoma, was described.
Journal ArticleDOI

An Upstream Open Reading Frame in Phosphatase and Tensin Homolog Encodes a Circuit Breaker of Lactate Metabolism.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe MP31, a micropeptide encoded by the upstream open reading frame (uORF) of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) acting as a "circuit breaker" that limits lactate-pyruvate conversion in mitochondria by competing with mLDH for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+).
