TL;DR: In this article, the corrosion electrochemical characteristics of X80 pipeline steel were investigated in southwest area soil with saturated water using electrochemical measurement, scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrum(EDS) analysis.
Abstract: The corrosion electrochemical characteristics of X80 pipeline steel was investigated in southwest area soil with saturated water using electrochemical measurement, scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrum(EDS) analysis. The results show that the corrosion rate of X80 steel slowly increase and is controlled by oxygen diffusion process with extend of corrosion time. The characters of double capacitive reactance arcs and Warburg impedance could be found in electrochemical impedance spectra, the resistance of charge transfer and binding layer resistance decrease. The corrosion product is basically mixture of iron oxides and salts in soil.
