Journal ArticleDOI
A Barium Titanate-on-Oxide Insulator Optoelectronics Platform.
Yu Cao,Siew Li Tan,Eric Jun Hao Cheung,Shawn Yohanes Siew,Changjian Li,Yan Liu,Chi Sin Tang,Manohar Lal,Guanyu Chen,Karim Dogheche,Ping Yang,Steven J. Pennycook,Andrew T. S. Wee,Soo Jin Chua,Elhadj Dogheche,Thirumalai Venkatesan,Aaron J. Danner +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a group of scandate-based substrates with small lattice mismatch and low refractive index compared to that of barium titanate is identified, thus concurrently satisfying high crystal quality and vertical optical mode confinement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Silicon-Based Quantum Mechanical Tunnel Junction for Plasmon Excitation from Low-Energy Electron Tunneling
Fangwei Wang,Yan Liu,T. Duffin,Vijith Kalathingal,Si-Ping Gao,Wenrui Hu,Yong-Xin Guo,Soo Jin Chua,Soo Jin Chua,Christian A. Nijhuis +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Nano-antenna enhanced waveguide integrated light source based on an MIS tunnel junction.
TL;DR: An electrically driven silicon light source with its efficiency enhanced by using a nano-antenna in a metal-insulator-semiconductor junction is proposed and two orders of magnitude of emission enhancement are achieved over typical planar MIS junctions.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Design of CMOS-Compatible Plasmonic Waveguides for Intra-Chip Communication
Yan Liu,Lu Ding,Yu Cao,Dongyang Wan,Guanghui Yuan,Baohu Huang,Aaron Thean,Ting Mei,Thirumalai Venkatesan,Christian A. Nijhuis,Soo Jin Chua +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a plasmonic waveguide with a metal or metal-like strip sandwiched in between dielectrics has been proposed for intra-chip communication in the more-than-Moore era.
Journal ArticleDOI
CMOS-Compatible Electronic–Plasmonic Transducers Based on Plasmonic Tunnel Junctions and Schottky Diodes
Fangwei Wang,Yan Liu,Thanh Xuan Hoang,Hong-Son Chu,Soo Jin Chua,Soo Jin Chua,Christian A. Nijhuis,Christian A. Nijhuis +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, electrically driven, CMOS-compatible electronic-plasmonic transducers with Al-AlOX -Cu tunnel junctions as the excitation source of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) and Si-Cu Schottky diodes as the detector of SPPs are demonstrated.
