TL;DR: In this paper, a balance feed differential slot antenna for restraining common-mode noise is proposed, which is based on a planar substrate integrated waveguide structure, and the slot antenna is adopted as a radiating unit.
Abstract: The invention discloses a balance feed differential slot antenna for restraining common-mode noise Based on a planar substrate integrated waveguide structure, the slot antenna is adopted as a radiating unit; due to different electric field distributions in the substrate integrated waveguide under different stimulation modes, energy can be effectively radiated under the different-mode signal stimulation, and most of energy is reflected under the common-mode signal stimulation Due to the adoption of the antenna of the structure, different-mode signals can be effectively transmitted and received, meanwhile, common-mode signals are restrained from being transmitted and received, and therefore the function of restraining common-mode noise is achieved

TL;DR: In this article, a balanced dual-feeding scheme is introduced to excite each subarray from its both terminals with equal phase and amplitude to ensure the radiation pattern of the sub-array is stably steering to the normal direction over the entire operating band.
Abstract: This paper presents the design of a 16×17 slot antenna array based on SIW (Substrate Integrated Waveguide) technique with a novel balance dual-feeding scheme. The proposed SIW antenna array consists of 16 longitudinal slot sub-arrays, and each sub-array has 17 radiation slots. Balanced dual feeding scheme is introduced to excite each sub-array from its both terminals with equal phase and amplitude to ensure the radiation pattern of the sub-array is stably steering to the normal direction over the entire operating band. Two 16-way power dividers are used to unit sub-arrays in a shunt form and simultaneously ensure the balanced feeding. Another T-shaped power-divider is used to combine the two 16-way power dividers into one port. Thus, the finalized antenna array has only one port but its radiation pattern is independent to frequency. The antenna array is implemented based on standard PCB process and both CPW-SIW and rectangular waveguide-SIW transitions are designed for the measurement. The measured maximum gain of the antenna array achieves 26.9 dBi, and the measured bandwidth of -10 dB is 40.5~43.5 GHz. The proposed antenna array is promising for Q-Link PAN high gain application.

TL;DR: In this article, a low-profile dual-polarized indoor ceiling antenna of an access point of a 3.3-3.8 GHz wireless local area network (WiFi/WiMax) is presented.
Abstract: The invention discloses a low-profile dual-polarized indoor ceiling antenna of an access point of a 3.5 GHz (3.3-3.8 GHz) wireless local area network (WiFi/WiMax), and the dimensions of the wireless local area network is 188*188*20(mm). A feeder part of the low-profile dual-polarized indoor ceiling antenna is a microstrip line based on a standard printed circuit technique. A radiating unit is formed by four groups of main incentive units of all-steel structures and nine spurious resonance units. The low-profile and flat dual-polarized indoor ceiling antenna conducts optimal design on the access point of a wireless local area network system with the work efficiency at 3.3-3.8 GHz, has 500 MHz bandwidth, 15.5+/-0.5 dBi middle and high gains, a low cross polarization to co-polarization ratio of 20 dB and high port isolation degree of gt; 20 dB, and has the advantages of being simple in structure, small in size, low in cost and convenient to produce in batches, being capable of meeting requirements for planar circuit integration, etc.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a system that receives, by a feed point of a dielectric antenna, electromagnetic waves from a core coupled to the feed point without an electrical return path, and radiates a wireless signal responsive to the electromagnetic waves being received at the aperture.
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving, by a feed point of a dielectric antenna, electromagnetic waves from a dielectric core coupled to the feed point without an electrical return path, where at least a portion of the dielectric antenna comprises a conductive surface, directing, by the feed point, the electromagnetic waves to a proximal portion of the dielectric antenna, and radiating, via an aperture of the dielectric antenna, a wireless signal responsive to the electromagnetic waves being received at the aperture. Other embodiments are disclosed.

TL;DR: In this article, a distributed antenna system is provided that frequency shifts the output of one or more microcells to a 60 GHz or higher frequency range for transmission to a set of distributed antennas.
Abstract: A distributed antenna system is provided that frequency shifts the output of one or more microcells to a 60 GHz or higher frequency range for transmission to a set of distributed antennas. The cellular band outputs of these microcell base station devices are used to modulate a 60 GHz (or higher) carrier wave, yielding a group of subcarriers on the 60 GHz carrier wave. This group will then be transmitted in the air via analog microwave RF unit, after which it can be repeated or radiated to the surrounding area. The repeaters amplify the signal and resend it on the air again toward the next repeater. In places where a microcell is required, the 60 GHz signal is shifted in frequency back to its original frequency (e.g., the 1.9 GHz cellular band) and radiated locally to nearby mobile devices.

TL;DR: In this article, a coupler couples the first electromagnetic wave to a single wire transmission medium having an outer surface, to forming a second electromagnetic wave that is guided to propagate along the outer surface of the single-wire transmission medium via at least one guided wave mode that includes an asymmetric or non-fundamental mode having a lower cutoff frequency.
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a transmission device that includes a transmitter that generates a first electromagnetic wave to convey data. A coupler couples the first electromagnetic wave to a single wire transmission medium having an outer surface, to forming a second electromagnetic wave that is guided to propagate along the outer surface of the single wire transmission medium via at least one guided wave mode that includes an asymmetric or non-fundamental mode having a lower cutoff frequency. A carrier frequency of the second electromagnetic wave is selected to be within a limited range of the lower cutoff frequency, so that a majority of the electric field is concentrated within a distance from the outer surface that is less than half the largest cross sectional dimension of the single wire transmission medium, and/or to reduce propagation loss. Other embodiments are disclosed.
